i think new shirts are a good idea, mainly because i know there are a lot of people who didnt get them last year and also because i think after the success of the mariners last year we will be seeing bigger numbers in BAY 16, maybe we should look at just getting names on the back for people on the forum, but also order some nameless shirts for new recruits to the bay, if we can buy a large bulk and sell them within the bay to newcomers it would further encourage people to wear yellow and give us a better look overall. names on the back is a great idea so that we an identify who people are, there are people on the forum who i dont know and im sure there are people that dont know who i am, but with names on the back of shirts you can look at people and straight away know who they are.

perhaps it's just me, but i kinda get the feeling that shirts may not be the best idea. my reasoning is as follows: the shirts have become synonymous with the marinators, and while it's nice to be well branded and all, it also leads people to think that all they need to do to be a marinator is wear a shirt. we then wind up with ten bazillion noobs up the northern end hanging out, sitting down, and soaking up the atmosphere and thinking that they're marinators. i'd rather have an end full of people standing and singing in replica shirts or yellow t-shirts from best and less or whatever than marinator shirts on non-vocal fans. i'm not sure the solution is to not have the shirts, but perhaps the shirt should have something on them that lays out what it is to be a marinator (without being so cheesy as some 'mission statement' a la the jets) - some sort of reminder of the whole point of the group. ...or i could just go mutter elsewhere like an old grump.

a couple of design ideas i thought of for the front of the shirt were 1) the word marinators hanging over an image of the northern concourse as it would look from a couple of bays towards halfway from the near corner, 100% full of silhoutted standing people, with arms raised, and random banners flapping over some of the bays. maybe you'd need to see a graphic representation to understand what i'm seeing. 2) a view from deep in bay 16 with raised arms in front partially blocking the view of the field, complete with palm trees down the other end for that personal touch.
with either of these, our ideal scenario would be on the shirt, so when selling them, you can say "contribute to this or dont buy one." same with seeing the shirt on someone not standing or singing - "why dont you do whats on the shirt"
meh, that wasnt worth posting.

Definitely a good idea. A few people are asking for lighter material. I do not think it is the weight of the material that was the problem it was what the material was made of. I would suggest yellow cotton polo shirts (cool and not as smelly). The collars make them a bit classier than plain t shirts. We could look at a navy collar and/or trim but that would probably be a bit more expensive. Whatever for the printing.

Definetly cotton please, would love a sleeveless, long, low round or v necked top so we can cope with the heat better. Large, long & loose to cover the lager or larger tummy Like the idea of cotton polo shirts with collars for the guys and optional for the girls too much easier for dress standards at the club and take into account some people need 7XL shirts not naming names, although I do enjoy getting all the ones he can't wear.

I think we should all wear Official Mariners Merch. What do we need our own shirt for?? one personal reason i would like to do this is so that we are identified differently to the other people in bay 16 that might happen to accidentally thro a bottle at someone else.

We are all Mariners fans. Yeah, some of the people who come into bay 16 are tramps but at least people are coming to the stadium. If someone throws a bottle identify them to George Foreman and he'll knock 'em out of the stadium and then it's no longer our problem. I don't think that's enough of a reason to take away money from the club, marginalise others fans, perhaps discouraging them from joining in, and having different tops in the stadium which would be a lesser effect to us all having mariners jerseys on. The intial marinators tops were a good idea when there was no official merch available because in them we were all wearing the same thing and it looked great. So now that there is official merch I don't see the neccessity of a "marinator's" casual wear line. At the moment I wouldn't be interested in buying a marinators shirt when there is Mariners gear available, but I know others, trampish youths for example that would for it's low price and major cool factor, the very trampish youths that you don't want to be associated with. But if there are any good ideas why we need our own clothing that I haven't thought of please tell me. I think people are getting carried away with the fun of clothes design. Plunging necklines, daringly modern designs with silhouette effects, 100% acrylic-cotton alloy, etc. I think we need to step back and assess whether we really need marinators shirts as opposed to Central Coast Mariners FC jerseys.

here here Goldenboy.
there are other options to a Marinators Shirt, like i said before. say a Scarf, or even a bandana. something fun, exciting and original that will get the Marinators name out there, and being available to anyone who comes along to a match willing to join in on the dream which is the Mariners. that way people are more invited, the item is more successful and isnt exclusive to those people that are unsure how to get involved supporting the Mariners, as well as joing the Marinators.
right now we need to build support. get a name for ourselves and as many people as we can involved. we need more attractive, original and friendly solutions, rather than more exclusive ideas.
the shirt will work to some extent yes. but it will be the same faces buying and wearing these shirts, which might make it a bit tedious to the person with their newfound love of the Mariners and the Marinators.
