Sorry guys but im going to have to disagree with some points or ideas i have just seen. I know we dont want idiots in marinators shirts who are just going to be knobs but background checks? I Don't know how serious to take this comment but dam. In the end we are a fan club and if this is going to happen i can see it driving away more people away then getting to join us. Im sure security and the club know that at a game of football just because a trouble maker bought a marinators jersey that it should reflect baddly on the group. I think the name idea is great tho to have on new shirts cause ill say right now i wouldn't no some of the people on here if i feel over them. Plus if trouble makers have a jersey with their name on it it will be busy to take action if they are playing up at games.

I agree SP. If we are going to worry about selling merchandise (hopefully to raise funds for the marinators fund) because of the odd dickhead here and there who may f***up while wearing said merchandise, then we should give it all away. Did the Mariners, or Man Utd, or Liverpool etc seriously consider not having ANY clothing for sale to the public because some dickhead may 'give the organisation a bad name' through wearing it while being a dickhead? I think not. All the more reason for the name on the back if we are worried about that. AS SP said, if a person has their 'name' on the back, then they are advertising who they are and will have to answer to the group, and if they haven't got their name on the back, then they are not one of the core group, but a 'random' (jimmys term) supporter.

Alot of things i dont agree with you on but this is one of them. I dont care what they wear or where they stand. As long as they support the team. (i=If they get into the songs that would be great aswell)

Should shirts get organised we won't be getting them with names on the back I think, the organising of sizes and names for 100 or so plus the extra cost IMO wouldn't be worth it (considering the main focus is on fund raising). Like the Queensland trip, if people want their forum names on there they can arrange it themselves, I know myself, fish, Pieman and the Beef did ours and the cost wasn't too much.
I agree with LM in the fact that the shirts (and sponsorship with the shirts) are there primarily to raise funds so we can better everyones bay 16 experience with more flags, banners or whatever we decide.

that is the idea. because if new people show up and stand in bay 16, they can also go get their names put on the back. and if the people that dont really want one at the moment, change their mind, same thing.
exactly, dont we want to grow bay 16 people?

another reason that i realised last night at the lightning game is this. we should be starting a local league team for the marinators. and these shirts might lead into our kit for that. an idea, not callin anything.

Agree with DJ and Lou's comments above. As for starting a new club, I think most of us are well and truly entrenched in our current clubs and our loyalty will stay with that club.

A few points in favour of shirts. 1) Raise money for Marinators funds (already mentioned). 2) It is a way for the newbies to make contact and feel part of the group. That first step can be harder than a lot of you realise. 3) It will get more people in yellow cheaply. Many will buy a cheap shirt from us at the game when they are feeling fired up, while they couldn't be bothered to plan ahead and go to Target or to pay more for official merch. A lot of the complaints last year were about people in Bay 16 not in yellow. This should make it easier for them. 4) I would like a cotton shirt. The club Merch is all synthetic. 5) If you want your name on your shirt get some iron on letters at Spotlight.

Just noticed at A-mart sports today they do names and lettering in heat transfers. Anyway any chance of some of the profits being directed towards the club too?

Anyway any chance of some of the profits being directed towards the club too? we talked to the club about this and they are happy that the money we make goes towards what the marinators do because we do benefit the club with our visual and vocal presence, and our player awards

I will not be wearing a marinators shirt for 1 simple reason. I can not be accountable for 100% of my actions when im drunk, therefor do not want to tarnish the name of the marinators. I will however be proud to play for Dinamo Marinators, should such a team ever become. I can be accountable for all my actions on the pitch.
