Good ideas there Roddy! I wonder if us mere amateurs could think up these ideas, why hasn't someone from the Mariners or the FFA thought of it? A 4 week TV ad campaign on regional TV should be within their budget as well as the fireworks and entertainment ideas. Let's face it, some folks still come up to this area for the Chrissy school break, and a bit of local TV advertising and a bit of a show at the ground might pay handsome dividends. And yes, the idea of doing it again next year is worth hassling the FFA over.

That is a damn good idea mate. The Grimsby lad is also right about ticket prices at Grimsby/Plymouth.It is peanuts over here to see a good game of football. I read somewhere about a lady that went to the match and was complaining about swearing from the crowd. This thing about being polite and clapping does my head in. Kids need to learn about passion and commitment to something. The more the word spreads about 'their' team around the school the more kids will grow up understanding that football is a way of life.It is not a franchise governed by the corporate w*%kers that exist in the NRL.It is not about the winning. IT IS about feeling part of something, having something in common with the bloke sat next to you who's got pie juice on his face,or the fit lass who's screaming her head off at the ref. Maybe the last home game of the season let kids go free and see what this game of ours is like.

At the end of Waratahs games at the SFS, a covers band plays at the Paddington end, which is GA and full of Waratahs fanatics. The place goes off!!
Rowdy's idea for a band at the Bay 16 end is worth pursuing, as are the suggestions relating to the kids. If the kids go, so will Mum/Dad, so this is a smart way of increasing attendance.
Agree with no Idol rubbish. A good covers band would do the trick, on the back of a truck RIGHT IN FRONT of us. It would be great fun after a night game.
The swearing has been reduced a lot, in my opinion. People have a right to complain, but some of these individuals should get a grip, build a bridge and learn to sook about something else.

Some great thoughts there, guys - I like the idea of a performer to make the whole thing a bigger show. And getting the leaguesy more officially involved the whole package of what else to do for the night (for the non-families).
I gathered from what was said on Friday nght that there'd be fireworks over Brisbane Water at ther end of the game (so about 8:15).
I think NBN advertising is essential (surely already planned - as it would always get double benefit for this derby) but I think the crowd is really up to us anyway. Newie people will think it's too far to come down and get back up there to party (but the bus to get back idea might help a bit)

Council will be doing absolutely nothing for NYE - they get to many complaints from people with nothing better to do then to whine to council. Or at least that's how it worked laast year.
I think the club is planning some stuff for the game, but I'm not sure what.

To be honest guys, I really don't think this whole New Years Eve thing will work. I hope it does, I really do, but having a game on the biggest night of the year is pretty stupid in my opinion, unless they did what was stated above i.e. making a whole night out of it. Already, lads from Newcastle have said they aren't sure if they are going, due to family commitments, or parties etc, and some younger lads have been told by their parents they cant use public transport because of the fact its New Years Eve, with the drunks and shit. Hopefully we will still get a decent turn out, but if not I wish you guys the best in getting a good crowd.
If it does become a success, though, I hope the FFA make it a Traditional F3 Derby, CC vs. Newcastle, which would be awesome!

It's not up to the FFA to fabricate a passionate derby, it's up to us and you. We've done our bit.

This will work if people have a go!! The pathetic excuses offered so far are copouts and weak-assed s%^t!!
This is a great opportunity for a massive night, starting with a great game of footy at a world-class boutique stadium supporting our Mariners or their Paper Aeroplanes. I have spoken to one, yes ONE, person with a decent excuse so far.
Yes, there will be alcohol-related issues (there always are) but there will be a massive Police/Transit Officer presence on the trains to deal with hooligans.
NYE is a perfect night for this game. It is clearly NOT a stupid idea. We can build a huge tradition with the Aeroplanes if everyone from both clubs gets on board.
Negative attitudes toward this night are just ridiculous. If you don't want to be part of it, stay home and be a neverwazza; leave us to enjoy our NYE in peace.

What I'm saying is that you guys are supposed to be diehards, if the whole squadron doesnt show up it's an embarassment to yourself.
And seriously have you guys STILL not figured out how to spell hangar? You're a joke.

I actually did figure it out, can't be assed changing it for some piss poor site which I rarley come on. Was trying to have a decent conversation. You Mariner pricks, especially you WT, need to learn to see other peoples perspectives... I agree, it will be a huge embarrassement and it will piss me off bigstyle if only half the Squadron make the trip. We are supposed to be the diehards, your right, and I know I will be doing all I can to encourage the lads to make the trip down. Please, WT, do yourself a favour and stop being such a wanker!

New years eve game at 6.00pm mmm gee that is a risk how many people go to Sydney for the fireworks etc and then there is parties and family commitmants . Management would really have to put on a top show.

Hehe I dont deserve any respect! But what's funny is, hangEr agrees with absolutely every point I made yet calls me a wanker for not seeing his perspective! I dont get it? Mate I got nothing against you, you're making the trip down and good on you for it. But the others who wont make the trip down for piss poor excuses aren't very commited supporters. I feel strongly on this not because of our crowd figures but because of the derby I would like to see raging. I'm challenging your mates to be a worth opponent. You seem to agree but still call me a prick? If you want people to give you every post in their nicest tone with a cherry on top, stick to your own forum. It's all a little coastie v scum banter!

You can't blame CCMFC for this match - the FFA in their wisdom decided to put a game on December 31st for some reason, that's when it's on and we have to live with it.
As for Newcastle Fans coming - they didn't come to fathers day so I wouldn't expect anyone on NYE.

LOL I'd believe that, apparently there's a lot of confusion in Newcastle on Father's Day. Der de de de, clap clap - Der de de de, clap clap. Der de de de, Der de de de, Der de de de, ;D
