Our keeper did us very proud.. i think vuka is now a shoe-in for the number one spot in our olympic campaign i dare say we will lose him to an overseas club in the next couple of years if that happens then we can try and recruit our sole coastie playing at a high enough level not already at the club - jess having a squad that is 25% coastie is absolutely wonderful

Danny had one of the best games he has ever had, when he saved that penalty he looked almost unbeatable, expect when carney scored there wasnt much we could do but carney should have been off the field anyway. He showed us all that he can really keep good after some of the bad games he has had before like perth. He helped us alot keep the draw but in saying that we were the better team and sydney were doing alot of the big ball down the park and they looked really desprate.
From the level sydney were at the start of the Pre season i dont think they have improved that much and all the other teams have caught up to them.
Tommy played awesome the time he was on and looked dangerous almost every time he had the ball, i still dont know why lawrie took him off.

Replay on Fox 2 at 5pm, cant wait!
Having seen the replay of their goal Beauchamp and Clark should have done a lot more, and it's a shame that even when they have stellar games they are still subject to tired mistakes towards the end. I couldn't fault Danny for it, Carney was allowed to come too close and then just shot accurately, it would have been some save to keep it away.
The talents of some of our better players came to the fore but everyone played their butts off, you cant complain about a draw. Unbeaten in 6 is something to be proud of so it's good to keep that record going.
I feel though that the biggest thing to come out of the match was Hutcho's injury. We'll once again have round pegs in square holes for the rest of the season now and it's a real shame for him as a bloke as well.

I think its unfair to expect Carney to have been given a red card .. he had a bit of a kick, but nothing major in it, a yellow was fair enough. Vuko was my MoM by far, there's nothing he could have done about the goal, way too close to the post. Hutcho's injury was massive for us, and I also thought Sully was sensational..

Carney should have got a red card. You can't kick the ball when the keeper has it in his hands - it's that simple.

You dont often see a red for that, unless it is a completely over-the-top , 2 footed, studs up reckless challenge. I never saw the replay, but if there was any suspicion that Danny only had one hand on the ball, Carney was entitled to go for it.

Hmmm looked like Danny firmly had it in both hands, but could be mistaken :\

The Carney-Vuko challege was 50-50 and the yellow was given as the benefit of the doubt.
But what pissed me off and I swear the ball was over the sideline in the lead up to the Sydney goal. I havent seen the replay but I can smell it was.
Other than that, great nite of football. Really top stuff.

After watching the replay today a) Carney was only a yellow, still stupid but not a send off, if it were Tommy for example we would be saying the same thing thing. b) A draw was the fair result. Mariners were still fantastic thou!

I think we play our best in the dry...
Why is it with a drought around, in only rains when we dont want it too.....
sigh

Alot of people have said the ball was out, Donny was talking about it on the train, I never saw a replay so I dunno.

Man of the Match, toss up between Danny and Tommy. It was great the way the shots stuck to his gloves. I saw a Mariner player talk to Danny before the penalty and I would bet it was to tell him to wait for Yorke to kick the ball before committing. He always takes his penalties slowly and just gently puts it in after the keeper has dived. Other stand out performances Sully, Wilko (MOM standard), Spenny and of course Gumpy. I thought Brownie appeared a bit out of his depth and not quite on the pace. I will reserve judgement on Kwassy. I would like to see him a lot fitter, he may then be able to show what he has to offer. It must be difficult with the limited match time. The whole team really worked their butts off in very trying conditions. Definitely did enough to win, but a draw was probably a fair result.

Man of the Match, toss up between Danny and Tommy. Gumprecht was consistent and worked hard for the entire 90 min.
