The only thing that could have made tonight any better would have been kevin muscut getting sent off.
Another great night....

There really was an amazing atmosphere tonight.
A victory in our final home-game in front of a record crowd. A fairytale really. The only thing stuffing it up was the Melbourne goal and of course, Kevin Muscats overall prescence.
But it was amazing and I am extremely glad I got to be there. I can't wait to watch it again on TV.
Yay for the Mariners and yay for the finals!

Isnt Muscturd the most obnoxious player in the league?
I hoped we would get a few more in tonight but it was nice to see the record broken.
I still think we can improve, our wide play is still terrible and I have no idea why we kept lumping long high balls up when we didnt win one header.
and wasnt the victory keeper shite lol

Keep the ball on the ground! All those long balls and headers in dangerous territory! Clarky and Sully had an outstanding game. Go Spenny and Heffo! Does Gumps yellow card mean he is out next week? Great game by all players! Even Mc Master did better tonight! Thought the crowd would be bigger but at least we beat the record again. WE ARE IN THE FINALS! WE ARE IN THE FINALS! WE ARE IN THE FINALS! WE ARE IN THE FINALS! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Where to start.....? 1. HOW GOOD does our Stadium look showcased in the summer twilight? 2. HOW GOOD is it to be definitely in the finals regardless of next week's result. (I actually thought the ground announcer had gone off prematurely about that until I realised that even if ALL the other necessary results fell against us, we'd still have to lose 9-0 with Newcastle losing only 1-0 next week, to miss out!) 3. The 3-1 score well reflected the game, inspite of the frustration with the absolute crap refereeing display - BULLSHIT!! (Does the FFA need to invest in bringing out some good overseas ref's before the A-League gets damaged by what we've got?) 4. Spenny's game (at last) - and what a magic touch to himself for his first. (Sure, he's now scored 6 but they're usually big hoofs) 5. McMaster in 9 mins looked sharp and showed some better skills (enough to show he's got something there) - a couple of lovely balls down the line 6. The record crowd. LOVED the congestion getting out of the Stadium and the carpark, 'cause it meant more of the Coast are behind the Mariners SEE YOU ALL AT THE FINALS

Good thing to see gumps miss next week (means he won't miss a semi because of a stray card).

Adelaide have had it for a few weeks, but how good does it feel to be 2nd past the post in the sense that we are already in with 2 places still up for grabs? we WONT have to scrape in at the death, so it feels far more deserved and fulfilling for me. even if we drop down into 3rd/4th by the finals, we're in and can sit back and watch the others sweat bullets trying to join us! YELLOW ARMY!!!

Big night, wasn't it? Wow, that was great! And I'm not tragically hungover, unlike a few others, I suspect!!
Ordinary first half, compelling second half when we passed the ball instead of going route one. Atmosphere from the 11945 at Stade des Marins was terrific, and the presso afterwards was just the best feeling, except when Auburn Minor was sledging people. The quiet people even joined in some of our songs, despite the funny way they look at us whenever we sing ("who ARE these people, and they are SOOOOOO noisy!!!").
To give credit where its due, read Michael Cockerill in the SMH over the past few days. He has the ticker to accept he was wrong about us, something YOU WILL NOT find in ANY News Ltd paper.
Brisbane has legendary status written all over it already.
GoldenBoy, could you please advise on the status of the M tattoo this morning??
And, you pillocks, I did not want to eat Andrew Clark!!!!
What a night!!! EIEIEIO, off the football here we go, WE'RE GOIN' TO WIN THE A-LEAGUE!!
Cheerio,
AM

Absolutely fantastic boys and girls, you guys were even coming through loud and clear over ccc through the internet! Excellent to hear Muscat took one where his balls should have been if he had em. By the way, where is that Muscat loving melbourne boy on here these days?..heheheheh Prepare for an Adelaide road trip! Great post Yellowcake, brought a tear to my eye. Thanks. I could almost smell what it smelt like when I was there.

Myself and some Mariner mates had a BBQ and crowded around the tele here in Canberra. Some of us are pretty keen to get to some of the finals if possible, depends where they are.
The stadium looked great and it looked pretty full on the tele. The noise was pretty good as well and the result was brilliant. Roll on the finals.

there was even a group of 8 guys in bay 17 or 18 that stood up and started singing. Yeah too right jimmy! I had a young boy, maybe 7 or 8? given permission by his Mum to traverse the aisle between Bay 16 & 17 and come and sing with us. Talkative little chap with a big Mariners T shirt on. Lots of enthusiasm and wanted to know the words (thankfully "Tits out.." didn't strike up or there woulda been trouble!)His Mum sat opposite in Bay17 and was quite content to let her son learn the songs from us, even if I was 3/4 cut by then. He went back to Mum at the end of the match a very happy youngster, so thanx to Murphes and his mates behind me who helped me sing along with him.

Great night yeah! How sweet it was, thinking back to the early days of the forum, dreaming of such an occasion. We've come a long way since those days. Hard to believe that we are a chance for cleaning out the inaugural A-League trophy cabinet by winning both pre-season (Cup) and championship (League). For me, tonight was extra special, seeing the Paper Aeroplanes plummet to the Roar 0-5, and us leapfrog them and Sydney Bling to 2nd spot. And a perfect night - meal in the bistro (thanks Charles!), a few beers and a singalong in the Kendall Bar. Out into a balmy summers night - not a cloud in sight, watching the latecomers queuing for tickets long after the 8pm kick off (will people ever learn!). The nervousness of a early goal against us, followed by the satisfaction of the way we grimly ground out a great 3-1 win - boy, is our team focussed or what? Fantastic and funny banter and chants - first with our Roar visitors, then in Bay 16. Had a complimentary bleu and yellow hair spray at half time, and had a conversation with a very confident Jnr Marinator (Auburnmariner's offspring!). Saw a few disconsolate Victory Tards (are they well named or what?! - What a weird looking group. Could only have come from south of the border. I know Melbourne is big on trade unionism, but jeez, do you have to take it to the football and have it in your flags and scarves? Boring. They would have felt right at home with the big ACTU promotion at the game! Down side (there's always a couple): A couple of over-keen Marinators regularly using the c**t word very loudly, right next to Bay 17. Not a good idea. What happened to our bagpiper? Went AWOL. I heard some limp strains from elsewhere in the ground, but would have been much better backing up the Marinators. Crowd - was great to break the record, but STILL the Coast don't seem to get it. WE'RE IN THE EFFING FINALS! DON"T YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? ?? THIS CLUB DESERVES MUCH BETTER. GET A GRIP AND GET TO THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to our bagpiper? Went AWOL. I heard some limp strains from elsewhere in the ground... He was somewhere at the back of the upper western g'stand, maybe Bay 40. Problem was when he first struck up, everybody turned around to see, only to then turn back and watch the replay of the Melb goal (I wondered if some of the Mariners heard it too and... )
