even though centrel coast did well in the WCC, they will still be big under dogs, not many big names and seems like all the old nsl players are their.

I agree, we will be underdogs and that's the way we like it! Yes, we do have ex-NSL players but they were the cream of the NSL in the likes of Pondeljak, Gumprecht, O'Sullivan and Beauchamp. They are proven NSL performers unlike the Melbourne players. They really did us proud in Holland - NOT. And Muscat and Thompson were jokes in Germany. As for the Melbourne coach - nuff said. We will also rely on a strong team bond and heart which will be severely lacking when we kick the shit out of your young socceroos. They will be crying back to their mummies.

Not to forget our fortress home ground advantage which seems likely to be one of the harder away trips in the league.

The unity here is great and we didn't have half our squad piss off to go and loose 3 games, dickheads.
Oh and how many games have Melbourne won against real opposition? What was that 0! Melbourne lost on Penalties to Adelaide and we beat Adelaide 4-0 not playing our best, we will be underdogs everyone will think those wins were a fluke but when we're in the top four and Melbourne aren't we'll be the ones laughing!
Looking at Sydney's stats: 10/20 players are 29+

We will all find out where everyone is at when the real thing starts in a couple of months, you don't need the best players in the league anyway to do well. Look at Everton this year in the EPL, or Charlton, having a good manager and good team spirit is the most important thing.
I have no doubt that with our Coaching team and squad assembled we will be competitive throughout the season and may even rise a few eyebrows again!

To be honest I am very upset with the squad. We need a big striker about 6ft 4ins, as playing long ball is the only way we can win in this league? Anyone agree?

Playing long ball is boring football, Lawrie prefers an attractive attacking style! I believe in building from the back, we have good keepers, good defenders, a top midfield, and some decent strikers who need time to understand eachother. Any attacker needs service from Midfield, which I reckon we can provide!

No one agrees, if you don't like the squad go somewhere else don't complain to us about it, we're very very happy with the squad. Did you see the WCQ matches? The long ball is definatley not the way to win this league!

The long ball is definatley not the way to win this league! Omni, when you've been around these sort of forums for a while (too long?) you realise that some people just like to stir things up. My take on his comments is they are 'tounge in cheek', just hoping someone will rise to the bait! Don't do it. If he is not - then he has the right to put his opinion even if as you say few would agree, and he should be supporting the NZ Knights! The long ball may be useful occasionally against Bling FC though, if the CWC Oceania leg can be taken notice of.

Yea I agree Kev, he is stiring and I'm baiting, but I was young and stupid. Also agree that it would work against Sydney FC, but beating Sydney FC twice isn't going to win the league, the long ball is something handy to have but I don't think it's the only way to beat Sydney FC, who are already too old (50% 29 or over).
