Talk about heart stopping! What a fantastic result, but fir 45 minutes I thought we were gone, Newcastle should have been 2 up at the break, how didn't Thompson and Kohler bury those two chances. The bias of the Fox commentators wasn't as noticable, Robbie and Neil did give us due credit. Sully was again our best, he was involved in everything, and was consistently popping up on both the left and right wings. Our defence was very shaky in the first half, particularly Heff, but we were lucky Newcastle shit themselves every time they got close. The way our team works for each other never ceases to amaze me, you wouldn't see one of our players try and pass the blame to a team member who was already on a yellow and should have been sent off. Liam Reddy, I hate him, but he was Newcastle's best tonight, and was unlucky, it was a good save but Ossie was there, then he pulled off another great one late in the match. Congrats boys, an away goal, and I'm $155 richer after having $100 on us

Mariners support looked fantastic on TV and the singing drowned out anything the Jets could muster.
Well done everyone....here's to a capacity crowd at our stadium next week and a night to remember

Great call (despite the archaic technolog from EA stadium) by the boys on 2CCC . Very tense and could hear some of the Marinators calls over the air too. Bring on a 'sell out' at CCS next week!

When you guys were singing "everywhere we go" Neil Evans said "there's a good chant going by the home fans" pfft.
Can you hear Newcastle sing .. NOOO NOOO, and typical Newcastle fans not getting behind their team in numbers, 10,236, "shit team, no fans!"

That was unreal. Certainly a game of 2 halves! Before the match i just wanted a decent result, and a win would have been fantastic. Well we got it, and the memories of the league match here are buried in my mind.
As if the result wasnt good enough, the turnout by the mariners fans (not just marinators) was above and beyond what any of us couldve really expected. Unbelievable effort and it didnt go unnoticed by the club. If more evidence was needed (?) that football has a longterm place on the coast, surely this was it. As for the squadron...pfffft. Complete no-shows (although i did see 5 rows stand up at a penalty appeal). To lose would have been hard to take, but to have a piss-poor turnout like that was unforgivable. Never has " YOUR'E SUPPOSED TO BE AT HOME " sounded so apt. This tie is far from over, but boy am i gonna enjoy this week. Bring on friday. Thanks to fish and dj for sorting the bus out.

Just got home and what a fantastic effort by the Mariners fans - It truly was a sea of yellow. Well behaved in the main the bottle thrown at the lino was a bit ordinary though. Agree we should have been dead and buried by HT. Heff,Petri and Tommy had an off night. 10,000? They got about 9ish for Perth last week and I reckon we took close to 2,500 all up. Their crowd actually reduced for a semi - chuck em out with the Kiwis

I think tommy p had a great game but sully was brilliant! Sonic looked a bit dodgy in the backs but got better as the game went on. Ossie had a good one i reckon as well. How many of us do you reckon there were? Where were the squadron? I didnt even notice they were in the ground. Also, worst stadium ever! 1st time up there and holy shit that is a terrible stadium.....typical bogans stadium!

The Aeroplanes should have been 2-0 up at the break. Tommy was great in the second half, a constant menace.
Our crowd were great tonight, creating a superb atmosphere. Surely Jets management would be disappointed with the crowd numbers?
Their stadium is good at night, and the surface looked in top nick as well.
Well, onto next Friday. I can't wait. Let' s hope for a victory to propel us into the Prelim Final.

Great turn out tonight (by us ) and great atmosphere at the ground. We were a bit patchy at the back but had some moments really fluid passing that cut the scum up. Great win though, takes a lot of the pressure off next week. Surprised at the low crowd, only 10000 odd and looked like almost as many of us as them (and loads more Marinators than Squadron!). But, look at it from the Newcastle point of view. Would you want to walk through urban wasteland and open sewers to get to a crap ground to watch a bad team?

Again, the new stand is pretty good at night, when you are not looking into the sun.
Remember, NISC has always been a cauldron for visiting sides, and it's a BIG reason the Knights have been successful there (along with Johns, Johns, Butterfield, Harragon, etc). They don't want you to be comfortable there, but the place is better than it used to be, let me assure you.

What a hoot! (As well as a lovely win + precious away goal) There's got to be 2 more records out of tonight: 1. There's no way there wasn't 3 000 Mariner fans there tonight. Must easily be an A-League record for a visiting team (and notice all 3 bays involved, by the end EVERYBODY was getting up for "Stand up...") The Jets forum is talking up not being able to hear anyhing from Marinators until a bit at the goal. F**K OFF! 2. 10 game unbeaten streak now is a record - but let's see a lucky 13! Golden moments (apart from a lovely win + precious away goal): - "Shit team, no fans" at the crowd announcement - The noise of victory, as we emptied from EAS - Return train with non-stop singing. I would have loved to have got the bus but was uncertain of making 6pm. But the 10:45 from Broadmeadow, without any of the usual suspects (appologies to forumites on the train) belted through the repetoire (AND there was more in other carriages!) - Pipes - magic again (just having a little Drambuie now - for him, Lawrie, Fergie and Stewie) - YB: Mission Accomplished

There's more... - Why don't we have the Marathon spring roll at CCS? Haven't had one in years. Went down quite nicely. - Notice the Jets merch stand post-game. Sign on (away) playing jersey "$50 was $130". Says it all. See y'all next week (Sorry, it's the Drambuie)

It's all been said...but how good is this! Other than the fact it'd be a loss to the scum, I wouldn't have cared if we'd been knocked out of the finals. Just being here feels so good to me. Seeing 1-2000 mariners fans supporting their guts out for their team, for this AREA, was just such a proud thing, and I made sure I spent a minute to take it all in at the end of the match. 10k, that is a disgrace, and we'll put it to shame wth 15k+ next week. It feels so good to be a football fan, a mariners fan, and a Central Coast resident right now in ways that couldn't be possible without CCMFC existing and I'm just so bloody glad they do!
Bring on Friday and a massive crowd!

Ahhh what can I say, but what a night!!!!! The turnout by the Mariners supporters was nothing short of amazing for a Friday night (considering most there would be working). The singing was heard loud and clear via Radio2 as well as 2CCC ;D A great team performance right across the park, but special mention goes to the Back 4 a absolute stonewall in defence and some perfect last ditch tackles. Oh well the job is only half done, now onto next Friday and finish the Jests off P.S Many thanks to Kevrenor for the lift to Boganville and back..some interesting "wildlife" along the Freeway around the Dora Creek area

i was rather disappointed with the figure of 10000.
it was definitely much bigger than against perth, much bigger, for a start we had all your bays practically full so it must have been at least 13000. oh well. not to be, i didnt see a single ad for the game on television, something the ffa needs to look at.
awesome match, one in which we should have had wrapped up at half time with a 2-0 or 3-0 lead (not sure about thommos penalty chance)
reddy made some mistakes, but mroe than made up for it with his fantastic saves, even the one that got past him.
the squadron was 5 rows, packed, packed and more packed, it was the only way we could fit in, we could have gone much further down the bay if we had wanted to.
we couldnt hear you, and you probably couldnt hear us. i thought i heard bagpipes at one stage, but wasnt sure.
cant wait for the rematch on your turf next week.
