Can't really judge Trotty when we haven't really seen him play. Remember when JC got taken out and Danny came in, everybody thought we were screwed... and look what happened!

I would expect, with the squad sizes going up that most clubs would look to have 3 keepers on the books.

3 keepers would be a good plan. Then certainly trotty as number 3. But really think with danny out for a number of games a more experienced keeper as back up would be prudent. They dont have to be overwhelmingly experienced. But more experienced

Adam Casey has signed for Sydney. not alot of news on it on the Sydney website though.
Latest News-Adam Casey Signs for Sydney Tuesday, 30 January, 2007 - 5:27PM Sydney FC today signed current Olyroo and former NZ Knights player Adam Casey. Adam is 20 years of age, a striker and toured Vietnam with the Australian Under-23 national team in April 2006.
His signing provides a balance of youth with the experience in the club's two other recent resignings in Robbie Middleby and Terry McFlynn.
Watch out for more information to come on this latest signing!
Another striker bites the dust.

Great choice. I would also look into this keeper as our 2nd choice, and keep Trotty as our 3rd. What about Andrew Redmayne, I have heard some good things about him, hes young and he has been training with the team for a while hasn't he?

Bobandbill - why Kwassy in BOLD do you not think he deserves 1 after running his guts off all season? His pace down the right next yr will only benefit us. I bolded it as with all the conterversy about everyone's opinion of him, I thought this would have been the most uncertain one. Let's ace, everyone on this fourm has said something about him, one way or another. I reckon he should be in the squad if he gets his shooting up to standard as he does give a fair bit of effort out on the pitch.

Delighted to see Jedinak's been offered a new contract, along with Wilko. While this doesn't automatically guarantee that they'll stay, it proves McKinna knows the value of this pair. Personally, I can't wait to see Jedinak & Gumps together in midfield next season. As for the rest, I agree with most of them. Personally wouldn't have offered Kwasnik a new contract, but as long as he's wearing a Mariners shirt, and giving his all, I'll continue to cheer the lad on. Hopefully, Stringers will be fully fit again soon, along with Damo, and hopefully Osman & Porter will get more of a chance to prove themselves next season. And above all, hopefully, we'll find a trusty goalscorer to sign!

i would love to see sasho, milton, nik and kwassie all scoring goals for the mariners especially the first 2 players in my list. as for the keepers i think it would be to have redders as the number 3 and buy someone like ivan necaski to fill the number 2 as redmayne would be one of our under 20 players . said on the news that there is rumours that spenny will join sydney by the time the finals is over and could play for the bling if they get past the scum

Also, signing Redmayne as a 3rd choise, I believe, would be a big mistake IF we keep Trott also. We need a second choice keeper to push Danny for his spot every week. Trott and Redmayne wont do this I believe. Id keep Trott as 3rd choice, and have someone like Ivan Nerwhatshisname as 2nd choice, or even now I read that Tommy Tomich might be let go from Perth. That would be another good 2nd choice.

Trotty would come cheaper as would Redmayne, and for those 3 or 4 games that a reserve keeper would play (assuming Danny stays fit) is it worth it?

I dont believe we should see Danny as our 1st choice keeper every week. Look what happened to Mrdja when he has had no competition. He dont give a shit. Watch what happens if we get some great top quality strikers this year, he will (hopefully) step up to the next level, pull his finger out, and fight for a spot. I believe we need someone who is pushing Danny week in, week out for the top spot. Its not good to have him knowing that every week, no matter what form he is in, he will step into the starting 11, unless he is injured.

I guess what im saying is, look at Sydneys situation over the last 2 years. Has there 2nd choice keeper had 1 A-League game??? No. And with no match fitness, would he do a good job if Bolton got injured??? Probably not. We, I believe, need a good 2nd choice who might just keep Danny on the bench, even when he is not on International duty. Its health for the team, to an extent.
