Last year, Vuko Tonasevic. This year, Sash, Owens, Mile, ect. Not naive at all. Y-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-wn......another dig at Vuko, eh??....For me, it's a real shame that so many Mariners fans were (and still are) willing to give Kwasnik more chances, even though he's already had several. Yet, Vuko got barely 1 season before people decided he wasn't up to scratch. Also interesting to note that the moderators stepped in when they felt people were directing too much criticism at Kwasnik - even going so far as to remove a negative thread about him. Yet, even now when Vuko is out of the club and back at Marconi, the poor sod is still getting it in the neck, and there's not a peep from them. Double standards? No? Oh well, must just be me then..... Please Musta don't mention the "K" word around here. The thread is over 1000 posts and it would be a shame if it got deleted. Unless of course you want to mention "K" as being the player of the year when clearly he was far from it. I do agree Vuko had so much potential. Perhaps after his studies we may see him again in the yellow

Perhaps if you did someone else would have been made player of the year? Seems funny that you want to say don't mention the 'K' word and then come out with 2 needless sarcastic comments

Could the Mods please remove these comments above? This thread's about "Let's Look Forward...". I'm sure everyone can appreciate the need to learn from last season and what happened, both from a supporter's angle and the player's/manager's angle. But this is a thread looking at the forthcoming season. No need to reprise last season's digs or defenses. Maybe Mustapha and Hilly may want to open a thread about Forum biases, but this isn't the thread to place those concerns.

no need - the forum has dealt with the issue itself, as it usually does. everything in moderation, including moderation.

If the Mods feel like removing something, they will .They dont need people bring things to there attention, thats why they are what they are. Lets let them do there jobs, not tell them how to do it. So, lets look forward.......... Whos next to sign for the mariners???

Have sat down over the weekend looking at the draw and figuring out which games I can get to and which games clash with my work roster. Work always seems to get in the way of football!

Now that we have Heff, if we sign an experienced/quality right-sided defender we will have the best squad in the league imo.

ooh baby... what a squad we're looking at
----------------------vukovic--------------------- --wilkinson-boogard-vidmar-heffernan-- -pondeljak-jedinak--gumprecht-owens- ----------------mrdja------petrovski-----------
but then look at the bench options... redmayne, trott brown, clark, o'grady hutchinson, osman, porter kwasnik, holland
some pretty young players in there, the dad's army thing is on the way out.

but with no brazilian flair we will struggle. I guess someone always has to be pessimistic. Just be happy that this looks to be shaping up as a great season, much better than V2.

It will remain the only 'gap' in our squad...not to say we don't have good options there with Clarky, Porter, Ossie. Maybe even Browntown could move to the right as he is more two-footed than people seem to think. Melbourne have one of the more 'gapless' squads obviously but if they want to play like last year they will need a new Fred. You'd rather be missing a proven right back than a playmaker! So looking very good indeed. The best thing about our squad is that you can't pick the best 11 players. We have strength in depth that no other team has had.

We have strength in depth that no other team has had. agreed i also think that tommy and gumps may well be fighting for that one centre midfield spot this season you have to also feel for browny with the heff signing as he was one of our best in the second half of last season perhaps a move to right back may be in order also love how we now have three natural left footers in heff, browny and hutcheson - not many teams can boast this

Being an eternal pessimist means that whenever something goes right your pleasantley surprised. In truth I was pre empting the media sentiments. we will be written off again because of our lack of imports. It will be good to show up all these teams that have imported talent with a squad that is largly home grown and with a good portion of local area talent. I'm looking foward to this season. Now how do we sign Mori to finish off our squad?
