Boogs and Matt Simon officially signed. Lawrie quoted as only having 2 under 20s) Can anyone list the 22 that Lawrie is supposed to have said will be all he'll sign? www.ccmariners.com.au/default.aspx?s=ccfc_news_item&id=18057There are 20 listed on club site, but that includes Matt & Boogs. Who are the extra 2? Redmayne & Holland? BTW - in Lawrie's Perth interview he said Gumps was training out of his skin. redmayne is listed as ambassador to Doylson fc and James holland amb to toukley. this came out in club emails today. so they must be signed?

I think Redmayne has already been anounced. Lawrie mentioned him among Heff, Sasho and Owens the other week as players we've picked up for V3.

An excellent position for us to be in I think. Lets hope that remains the position for the entire season! Yep! Too true! All this picking of likely lineups is great fun but in the end injuries, suspensions and to an extent form is unpredictable, and our team will change weekly. The main point out this whole conversation is that our depth is so strong that no one starting XI is 'better' than another and that injuries etc will now only provide opportunities for other great players to shine. Depth Depth Depth!!! Have we ever, and I mean - EVER - had a full squad to choose from?

Heff got the sooks when he saw Danny's hair and took his ball and went home. ;D Stand by for Heff's response to Danny's challenge as Mariners' Most Metrosexual! BTW, any ideas where we could get some grey haired mop top wigs and goalie jerseys? I feel a Danny Appreciation Day coming on. ;D

Regarding foot-dragging James Holland ..
From Victoria: "Preston Lions leads the VPL on goal-difference despite its surprising 4-3 loss to the AIS at the Connor Reserve on Sunday afternoon. Johnny Sapazovski got Lions off to an early start with a goal after seven minutes, but Richard Greer equalised two minutes before the break. Milos Lujic put the students ahead three minutes after the re-start, and James Brown extended the lead on the hour. Tony Sterjovski started a Lions' fightback ten minutes later, and when Nick Lazarevski levelled after a further five minutes, it looked like the momentum was with the Lions. But James Holland's goal in added time sent the points to the capital."

further to that peter turnbull interview he said that they may be looking at a guest for this season but he is also mindful of lawrie's attitude and that some guests have been disasterous (romario)
also said that they will be looking at a significant marquee for next season

Well, besides the isssue of whether James Holland is going to end up a Mariner or not, this thread has just about run it's course. We highlighted the need for a striker and we got Sasho (sp.?) and we also heard about Greg Owens and we've signed him. Nik is fit, Heff has come back to the Mariners, Mile and Matt are with us fulltime, and Boogs has got the fire back into his belly. We've released 3 original players (Spencer, O'Sullivan and Petrie) all of whom have found new homes (2 non playing tho). We also released Jamie McMaster (did he end up getting signed by Leeds?). Paul O'Grady got himself into trouble with the law, and he's got corrective surgery scheduled that could put him out til October (?). All in all, a season of change for the playing staff. The backroom has had a pleasant surprise with the arrival of Peter Turnbull, too. Now the pre season series has started. This will tell if the Mariners can improve upon last year's results. I feel it will. Roll on v3!

if stringers has had the corrective surgery than why did he play on saturday as a substitute, unless he is having the surgery later on after the pre season cup

Does the FFA know something we don't, or did they just make an assumption:
"FFA 30/7/07 - The Qantas Young Socceroos continued their winning run in the Weifang Cup overnight with an emphatic 4-1 win over Iran in Weifang, China.
Central Coast Mariners midfielder James Holland and AIS-based Victorian Milos Lujic both scored a brace of goals in what was a physical contest that saw Iran reduced to 10-men after 65 minutes ......"
Good win too!

Good win too! I'm not too sure he will get a contract this season. The Express stated that Ian McAndrew was set to be given a 1 year deal.
