Wasnt the decision supposed to be made at the end of march? i can only assume that nuremburg have said they dont want him but he is still trying to find a european club I think the decision is the one that FC Nurnberg had to make. Whether to keep him or not.

I think the decision is the one that FC Nurnberg had to make. Whether to keep him or not. I don't think we will keep him. But that's just my personal opinion. The club hasn't said anything yet about his future. And nothing else is written in the papers - not even rumours... He played for the reserves today and scored the 2:0 in a 3:2 win against bayreuth.

There was an article in the paper today saying that the Mariners will have to wait at least 6 more weeks for a decision. He is yet to be offered an O/S contract. Mckinna said Heff wants to return to the Mariners, but he is weighing up the financial benefits of an O/S deal. If no O/S contract is offered, he will be back at the Mariners on July 1. McKinna also denied that we were after James Robinson for next season.

Would love to see him come back and play, sounds like our strikers are set and a solid back such as heff would be great news for the mariners.

As one of our tabloids wrote today, Heff is getting a farewell next Saturday before the last home match against Hamburg. His contract won't be extented. But nothing is written waht he is goning to do after the end of the season.

Heff has made it clear that his interests lie overseas, but with him failing to break thru at Nuremburg, my money is on him returning to us

Will he get an enhanced contract as he has reportedly requested? I'd have no problem with it, is there room under the cap?

(probably Holland who can play there) I'd like 1, but don't think it will happen. Heff obviously doesn't really wanna come here thou.

With this league, the secret is to spend your salary cap on an excellent first XI and do what you can in terms of cheap, flexible, up-and-coming back-up players.
Unless it was on minimum wage I wouldn't want us to have another striker. We aren't going to play with three, so while Nik and Sash were fit it would just be $ sitting on the bench.
I'd rather a really excellent fullback or winger who would select themselves each week.

I'd rather a really excellent fullback or winger who would select themselves each week. I disagree. We have two strikers now of similar ilk (target men, low work rate, average mobilty) who are also injury prone. If we lose one of them we are back to the Kwasnik situation, or Pondeljak or Hutch playing a role behind the strikers - not ideal IMO. I fear that by playing Saso and Nik together that will not value add off each other and be too similar. With Mrdja now not playing properly for three years I would have liked to use him similar to his role in Perth - an impact player off the bench. This would have eased him into season three where he could build his strength and confidence again.

I certainly think we should have a Holland or a Simon in the squad to develop and offer us something different, but still not a third frontline striker though.
If we are serious about having Mrdja at the club we have to assume at this point he is going to be the peak-age player capable of the damage he caused in that first pre-season and in glimpses when he came back. To commit him to a bench role would be conceding defeat now - and surely not the answer to any confidence issues.
Yeah its a risk that one of them might get injured leaving us with a less ideal option. But remember we made the Grand Final without any genuine class strikers, now we have two.
A bigger risk in my opinion would be to go into the season with a right-side of just Clark, Ossie, Kwassy and maybe Porter or TomP out of position.
Nothing against any of those players, I think they'll do well, but that is a bigger area of priority than a third great striker for me. Not to mention the left side if we don't get Heff.
