Also, regarding the new major sponsorship deal with "Community First Credit Union", are they going to appear on the new jerseys.

i imagine jersey space is already claimed, but with sponsors now in relative abundance, it means that next year the jersey space might sell for a bit of a premium owing to competition. if we make ACL, then even more so.

Yes, this is all great news for the Mariners and kudos to their Board and management team who have stuck at the task and worked at it like a bulldog to get to this point. I can clearly remember seeing Lyall Gorman in v1, walking around Bluetongue, popping his head into Bay 16 and he looked quite ill. I was thinking that 'all this worry is killing him', and now just recently, at the Blacktown trial, I looked over my shoulder from my seat in the stand, and there was Lyall - all beaming and quite a happy camper. Two thumbs up Lyall, two thumbs up. I hope that the club is not extravagent with the liquidity. I see a guest player as a big luxury. Like others have said, the player has to work himself into the side and then produce goods in a short time. I'm not a fan of the concept - never have been (and we are talking back to the days of Kevin Keegan (?) making a guest appearance in the NSL - I didn't like it then and I don't think I will now). Nonetheless, if Tommy, Owens and Hutch get injured, and Liverpool are keen to let us have Harry for a few games on loan coming into the last third of the season and a finals spot is on offer.... I might be tempted to say it's worth the publicity. I think our collective wisdom leans towards a full season involvement of a high profile player under a marquee signing, if funds are available. Although I do tend to believe that an investment in a youth academy and some brilliant training facilities would add more long term benefit to the club, and it's ability to attract quality players. It's great that we can discuss all this, like kids in a candy store with a $100 note! No doubt, the Board will be prudent about the spending and where the allocation of moneys ends up.

I can't see any good reason for a guest player. It did not work for Adelaide and the Coast is not the type of market where it is needed. We turn up to watch our team no matter who is playing.

Yeah it didnt work for adelaide beacuse they chose a player based on name alone. You didnt mention that it did work, twice, for sydney. Tho I do agree with you, we turn up, no matter who plays.

To agree with all - no guest player!
The reason is that Central Coast fans will be attracted to the ground by a hard-working team who play good football and win consistently. They won't be attracted by a 'name' they probably won't have even heard of. Bringing in a guest could be detrimental to our teamwork, unity, winning ways, and therefore a step in the wrong direction.
Our long term spending should be directed at quality of coaches and facilities down the tiers from the Mariners to the academy and Lightning and beyond.

i think a marquee has benefits but guest players are a waste of time - whats the point of disrupting the squad

Its all about who you target and the impact they would have on the gate and corporate. We are still relatively young as a club and the Coast community is still in its infancy football wise so I think at the moment a guest player unless an enormous name would miss the mark and if we get a massive name itll cost the world. To be honest at the present stage I dont see a benefit unless Yorkes keen just to add more envy at our new found wealth lol

might pose an interesting question though if we could get a guest who would you like to see? Keep it real though no Drogba or Christiano. I wouldnt mind Christian Vieri
