this financial support is great, i'm glad the club is so well run and that the only worry is how the team plays rather than whether there's any money left as is the case with loads of clubs.

And we're only going to get richer by the sounds of this.

Congrats to you all. Your board are set ting your team up nicely. I love the way your club is becoming z community club, both financially and with your youth development. IMO your board are the most professional of the league.
I hope all other future regional (all future teams really) teams look at the way your board have gone about its business, and follow it’s example.
A couple of question for you all though, where is football (support wise) on the scale of things related to other sports in Gosford and surrounding areas? And wha i's its potential?

To simply term the Coast a 'Rugby League heartland' used to be pretty bulletproof. But now - what runs do they have on the board? Football has the team, football has the crowds, football has the participation. It will take longer for the general mentality of Coasties to change, but without anything material to cling to, the Rugby League diehards will gradually come over to the light

yeah i know a few people who are old nrl fans but attend most mariners games, they dont go to the bay but these are the kind of people we need to reach stadium capacity... and us die hards by showing loud and colourful support can only further entice them with what is clearly a superior atmosphere than any nrl game...

League is still the number one in terms of support of the top brand.
Doesn't seem to matter who plays in an NRL game at Bluetongue they are guaranteed 15 000 with minimal publicity no membership base etc.

When I say gradually, it could honestly mean 15+ years. But all the youngsters on the Coast who are playing round ball are much more likely to stick with that game with the Mariners promoting it.
Throw in the hosting of an Asian Cup and possibly a World Cup, and people WILL be converted.

we will be spoilt this year with the Olyroos coming here twice so if people are wanting to watch high quality football regularly its on its way in spades.

There are often freebies given out (the Mariners have been guilty of this too) and people from out of the area will travel if they get a free ticket from being a member of say, Storm, and it was their home game that's been relocated. Freebies are often given out at promos, sports stores and local junior leagues too. Given that NRL has a more dominant position market wise, they can and do give out more than other codes, simply because they want to, to protect their market share in this area and claim bragging rights. I think the watershed day will be when the Mariners actually and genuinely sell out the stadium, be it a semi, GF or an ACL match. I look forward to that day. Playing Olyroos matches up here is a good way top bolster the promotion of football and possibly having a couple of our own in the squad will help promote the game even more. I have been impressed with the number of junior teams of Football here, haven't seen as much of the other codes. The fact we now have a chain or line of Football teams to graduate to (if your ability allows), from junior teams to Mariners Academy, then Lightning then Mariners, does give a chance for those who have the skill to keep shining and not move away from the area in their formative years. It sits well for the future of a Football minded community. The main antagonist for an NRL team up here (Singo) has recently said that he couldn't be buggered nowadays with that concept - preferring to host matches in the Mariners off season for NRL teams that wanna relocate their home games, and glean income as 'mein host' at Bluetongue. The Melbourne Storm has been allocated this district to use for their lower grades and junior development, but how does that sit with the main team actually located in Melbourne? Not a vote of confidence from the Sydney teams is it (they let Melbourne use this district and it is so close to Sydney)?
