they will never do it i think everyone learnt the lesson from the Australia A debacle in cricket - everyone supported the "B" team and it diminished the brand and loyalty towards the the main national team from a marketing point of view it is a disasterous concept as it instills negativity towards your core product i would rather see an all star national league team playing all star teams from other countries such as japan, china, korea or the usa Along that line of thinking Mick, I would have thought an A-League all star team vs. LA Galaxy might have been a better promotion rather than just one HAL club playing them. you would think wouldn't you but which chairman of the ffa is also the principle owner of the team playing galaxy

Is it not possible for boogs to just do some sprint training with heff and clarkey? Surely anyone can learn how to run fast, its just a matter of conditioning... Imagine boogs with the speed of brown! Boogs is a big guy, and sprinting ability and top speed are more natural attributes than fitness based ability. All to do with anaerobic capacity, lactic acid, and nerves (yes, I checked Wikipedia ). He can learn to sprint a little faster by taking some lessons on sprint training, use of his arms, improving his running gait, better breathing techniques etc. but the improvement is minuscule. You either have it or you don't.

Do you know what would be funny? Injury relapse. Early retirement. I think what Jaza means in a funny kinda way is he's a good player and it would be best for Sydney and other HAL clubs if Boogs was not available. I don't think Jaza would seriously wish injury upon Boogs people!

I gave him my Marinator's M.O.M 3 points on friday nite and so did Lawrie:
Central Coast Express Advocate Wed, 29th August, 2007 Paul Newman,
"Hero" Boogard keeps spot:
Unsung Mariners hero Nigel Boogard will retain his spot in the defensive line for Friday's clash against Wellington Phoenix despite the return to full fitness of former Socceroo Tony Vidmar.
The Mariners are on top of the A-League table for the first time in the club's history after a 1-0 win over Sydney FC.
While striker Sasho Petrovski recieved the accolades for scoring the only goal of the match Boogard stopped a certain goal at the other end.
Sydney poured on the pressure late in the match trying to find an equaliser to Petrovski's seventh minute goal and only a quick reflex action from Boogard stopped the home side snatching a late draw.
Sydney defender Mark Rudan fired a shot at goal five minutes from full-time that deflected off goalkeeper danny Vukovic's glove before Boogard, 21, stuck a leg out to clear it off the line.
In his only A-League appearance, aside from the one minute against Qld in season one, Boogard played a big role in stifling the Sydney attack.
"It was a bit daunting to start with because I haven't had a chance before now, but to get through it all right was very pleasing," Boogard said.
Coach Lawrie McKinna said not even a fit Vidmar would displace the inform Boogard from the side.
"Nigel will play this week regardless of who is available.' McKinna said.
"He's not showing any immaturity, he's playing like an old head.
Against Sydney he put his body on the line and kept possesion well.
The boy's been out for two years with injuries and there is nothing more satisfying to give a boy a chance and see him take it."
Vidmar will not displace Boogard against Wellington but he move into the starting side for an captain Alex Wilkinson is forced out with a knee injury.
Wilkinson limped off after full-time against Sydney and may be forced out of the Mariners starting line-up for the first time in three seasons.

Great to see some creedence put on an outstanding display by a defender, as strikers mostly stand in the spotlight's when they're switched on.
"Not even a fit Vidmar would displace Boog's" makes this thread title even more debatable/interesting with the upcoming games for the Olyroo's at the Tongue.
Danny, Chicken & Boog's all in the one game wearing the Green & Gold....how fcuk'in awesome would that be!

Boogs is very much a traditional "British" centre half (albeit he can pass the ball). Pace is less important than physical presence and reading of the game.
Lack of pace hasnt really hurt Sol Campbell or John Terry has it?? Ok, so Boogs may not get to their level but he is still a kid in a position where you arent at your peak until your late 20's.
He is also very inexperienced at this level. Did anyone here watch Meggsi at his age? I didnt but would be fascinated to get a comparison from people who did.
As for that injury comment Jazza - thats the sort of sick shit we can expect from the scum. Enough said!

I don't think Jaza would seriously wish injury upon Boogs people! You're blowing of my blatantly obvious troll disguise is uncalled for. Was trying to wind people up ffs Oh and as for Petrovski I actually would mean it. Yes, really. Lifetime wheelchair cripple would even funnier.

Fair enough, you got me too. Must remember, SFC humor much different to ours. Maybe why my jokes are not always appreciated on Sydney Unofficial.

It's Endurance that can be taught, I mean if I can run a marathon it's not that hard. Yes, I do believe ANYONE, can finish a marathon.
