Of Queensland's 26 shots, only 8 of them were on target. No wonder they didn't f*cking score!

Aside from ground security apparently thinking they were still in Joh's Queensland, last night was awesome! The Yellow Army was small but vocal, I downed an entire hip-flask of Jim in the disabled toilets at regular intervals , got just as tipsy as the rest of you paying $5.60 for mid-strength beer and then hopped on the train at Milton station afterwards walking through a carriage of orange clad soccer fans singing "1-0 to the Mariners! 1-0! 1-0!"

Eggy: If they made you keep your shirt on, you should have ditched the daks instead! Give them the option next time.
Had a great night in at CCLC, plenty of folks there which does well for the efforts of Jeff and Charles.
Trott played the Emperor again (he was as dominant in Canberra in the Pre Season Game vs. Sydney, so last night's performance wasn't a fluke, it's from hard work), built a Great Wall and kept the rabbits out all night.
Defence was scrambling in the last 20 or so of the game. The shot that Trott had to palm out was actually covered off the line by a defender (I think it was Vidmar), so even if Trott had missed getting a hand to it, the defence was there.
Reinaldo is a joke. He can put the ball everywhere except the goal. Marcinho - joke. Tiatto and Moore - big mistake by Farina to leave both of them on in the last third of the match. They are both old and feeling the pinch.
At a time Qld. needed to lift the pace and keep some pressure on, they had these two old guys on slowing things down.
Tiatto's "oh my shoulder" escapade in the first half proved to be the biggest crock of manure that side of the border. Petrovski barely touched him, and when he came back on, his supposed nearly dislocated shoulder was swinging around as he ran. No discomfort at all.
Kwassi's goal was good one touch and in. The secret there was he didn't have time to play with the ball & think about things like life, the Universe and whether he was going to win the dickhead t-shirt. Nice of Mrdja to assist the ball in by taking a good fall all over one or two defenders.
A worry is a few of our players picked up yellows, so how's the count going?
In the early first half we were CLARSH Mr Foster.
The set piece goal executed brilliantly at a time that Qld were expecting a high cross into the goalmouth. Gave plenty of room for Kwassi to run in and give it a good slam.
TOP OF THE LEAGUE. Brilliant.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE. Brilliant. I think you will find that it was Boogard in the perfect position behind Trott ready to clear the ball similar to what he did against Sydney.

Someone tell that bogan that THIS MARINATOR who was at the game thinks we were very bloody lucky... Lucky that our defence was switched on, and lucky that we could take our chances better than the pathetic excuse for strikers they have. I dont think it was "luck" that got us 3 points at all, I think is was superior defence VS rubbish attack.

I dont think it was "luck" that got us 3 points at all, I think is was superior defence VS rubbish attack. Well said. While possession, controlling the game and moving forward make you look better, sometimes you have to recognise situations where a different tactic is needed to get you through a tough match-up. eg. going into this game we knew Qld was the 'bogey-team'. The smartest thing to do first is to not give away any stupid easy chances - i.e. ensure the defense is solid. On top of that, we were able to successfully execute a set piece to capitalise on a rare opportunity. For all we know it was probably planned because we were only expecting to get a few chances, so why not have something up your sleeve to make the most of them? I agree that's not luck. Not necessarily anyway. You never know, it could have been - maybe the defense just happened as the need arose. But i'd prefer to think it was a case of Lawrie adopting an appropriate game-plan and seeing it work against a team that has been difficult for us to take points away from. Maybe if their strikers weren't so rubbish or if we didn't pull off that chance it would have been a draw - still a good result against your bogey-team.

I thought it could have deflected off the leg of the defender behind Mrdja; it looks like Nik tries to move his feet out of the way. But it's not clear enough to tell from you-tube. Someone with Foxtel IQ could probably see better.

Read it again Egg. Nik only scored 2 against NZ, and Kwaz only had 1 before the QLD game, so Kwaz has obviously been given the credit. Nik's touch did nothing, it was going in anyway.

Someone with Foxtel IQ could probably see better. It came off Nik and went straight through Seo's legs. But as I stated, its was always going in, with or without his touch.

i was lucky to have my trusty radio with me to listen to coast fm, which is very good to listen to for away games.
at the times that i was listening it sounded like that sasho was giving away alot of fouls, no QLD supporters as i could only hear the marinators, not a very good game for both sides, also trotty the best player along with browny for the mariners
am i correct ??
