I don't understand the sudden anti-Vidmar feelings....... he really didn't play that badly, Boogaard had his worst game in the yellow and blue, so Vidmar was doing the job of 2 men, and rather admirably I must say.
Midfielder - the referee's game was disgusting. Simple.
Not as bad as periods of our defence though...... *sigh* Tommy and Aloisi though, that's a combination to watch out for.
If that's Sydney at their best, then there's not much to be fearful of. We were rubbish for about 80% of the time and still only lost by one. I'm still tipping Sydney to miss the finals.

Mikey (writer of teh The Football Tragic blog), remarked to me at ht that CCM weren't really playing that badly - they jsut got us on a very good day. I'd agree with that - bar parts of teh second half where all the posession in the world conjured bugger all chances (sounds like us all eyar actually...) fair call. i don't reckon we were *that* bad, but in your first half there was just this midas touch thing going on. that's football... if tha margin had've been greater than 1 it wouldn't have been because our lot were bad. still - for problems teams have had all year, if our lot would pull the trigger a bit more keenly... or perhaps send crosses to somewhere other than the far junction of the 6yd and goal lines...

Same one as me I think: * Shield was shit * Viddy did reasonably, not great, but not worthy of the crap said about him here (yeah, opinions I know) * My hero Tommy was very ordinary (except for his vision at the death ... what was Vuko doing standing there rooted to the turf?) * Sydney played the best I've seen them for most of the HAL - still not set for top 4 but the Kossie threat certainly motivated them.

My highlight today was on the way back to central station. This bum came up to me and asked for 60 cents to buy a beer. I gave him the 60 cents and directed him to the nearest bottle shop. What can I say, it was Sunday and I was in a christain mood.

what game were you watching? Agree what game and what stuff where you on. Coca-Cola, crazy stuff that is. At least that's what those ads at half time have me believe...... seriously, it makes the stuff out to be a wicked drug of some kind. But serious(HA!!!!)ly, I'm just calling it as I see it. Basically, ref = suss, our defence = needs work, Sydney = not a factor come playoff time.

FFAAAAAARRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKK We just got out smarted and out performed i believe With out hutcho's shots we really didn't look threatening that game could easily have been worse they missed a penalty stuffed up a couple of 1 on 1's.I really didn't notice us penetrate much at all.Unfortunetly i don't think the ref is to blame for this one he fuc#*d up but not as badly as our defense. The boyz have gotta take responsibility for that and fix it for the next few weeks or we'll drop outta the 4.Melbourne Adelaide Perth And Scum Thats a tough run I can see us dropping alot of points in those games Mel/Adl always dangerous perth might get new coach syndrome and the Scum know how to punish us if we make mistakes.Very concered Eggy rite now

Kozzie was huge for them tonight. He knows our club, players and style and always did play well against us when he was with Adelaide. He knew we would be forced to play wide so trained to carve up the middle which was bloody effective. Tommy P was a huge dissapointment in his passing excusing his through balls for Aloisi which will be great in coming rounds but for tonight i thought he handed over the most possesion closely followed by Gumpy. Sure he had some good runs (Gumps) but his passes in our half and the mid field were nothing short of woerful. Im hopeing that because of suspensions we have a full change of backline and Clarky, Kwassie and wilko fix all of this weeks problems and with Aloisi, Sash and Kwasie on the strike force Melbourne have plenty to be scared of. At the end of the day this is just one game, full credit to Sydney for the win, if we can get away with home results for Melbourne and Adelaide then we are back on easy street with Perth, Newcastle and Wellington. So that means everyone needs to FIRE UP FARKING FOR THE NEXT FEW HOME GAMES.

Well we have got just 4 points out of the last 15 on offer. Losses to Adelaide, Roar and now Sydney. Draw against Scum and a win against Wellington. Put simply we are struggling badly at the moment and Lawrie needs to turn things around very quickly.
At the moment we are not playing well enough to make the four, let alone win the championship. I honestly believe we'll make the four but we now require everyone to step up and lift immensely.
The first four or five games with the exception of the Roar game up there we were in total control maintaining possession which allowed us to dictate play. We're not doing that anymore. We're not controlling possession and conceding silly goals. We're turning the ball over far too easily in midfield because of impatience trying to find a killer pass. I'd like to see much more composed in midfield and be patient with good build up play to in and around the box.
If we give John and Sash the service, they will score, simple as that.
I thought before the Sydney game that the next three weeks would be the litmus test for the season. Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. If we can get results in the next two games, we are in very good shape. If we don't, it could be very difficult from here on in.
I think we've reached the point in our season, where the next two games could be make or break. The turning point, for better or worse. I believe we'll get results at home in the next two, but bloody hell, we need to improve a lot.

What was everyones take on how we perfomed as travelling supporters? It felt like everyone was fired up and really having a go but it didnt look like we had many people and didn't sound real loud :-/I dont know if this was because we were behind the whole time or lack of instruments maybe we did sound good i don't know.
P.sWe have a new Mariners fan Bex loved the experiance (pre game during and post)thanks everyone who made her feel welcome That was her first ever game never even followed a team in any real sports now she's on the wagon.

I think we were good, but at times the chants were getting faster and faster. Which tends to happen a lot when we're in Sydney, probably because everyone is really excited. P.S Bex was nice, good job Eggy

What a disappointing performance! We conceded 3 soft goals, a silly penalty, gave the ball away in midfield far too often and worst of all lacked heart. We badly need Wilko and Kwas back for the Mexicans next week as Wilko can add some pace to the center of defense and Kwas gives us another much needed option if the front 2 are tightly marked. I thought that Shields did have a poor game but it didn't effect the outcome as on the day Sydney exploited our defensive holes and put away their chances. Let's hope we can put together a much needed performance next weekend....
