I said it last time we played Adelaide, but I really do think us and Adelaide will play in the GF, hopefully at home.
This is the best two teams in the competition and the most consistent.
I'm going for a 2-1 home win with 13,500 if we have fine weather. I think we'll see a good boost in the crowd playing an early Saturday night game, especially with the free kids promotion thing.

Righto, since most other clubs take the piss out of our stadium and the _beloved_ palm trees at the southern end, and since we also thought it looked cute, Shoelady and I have made a banner up one some yellow fabric from this clipart she found....... Do any of you reckon we should go with text beneath it, or it's fine as is?? Perhaps something cheeky like "We Love Our Palm Trees". (we're most likely going with a blue outline, and the ball at the bottom to be blue and yellow)

If this is anything like the last game between these two clubs then it's going to be a cracker...... as it stands though, I honestly can't pick a winner. It all depends on which Adelaide turns up - if it's the one that played against QLD, then we'll do them 2 or 3-0, but if it's the one that played us last time, then I can see a highly entertaining draw, and possibly high scoring, with the likelihood of a late winner from either team. If I'm not mistaken this is also our first ever 5pm game on a Saturday?? Crowd figure will be most interesting. 5pm to 7 pm match but in real time it is, 4 pm to 7:45 pm, by the time you leave home, park car, walk to ground, leave ground, etc. If you have kids from 3 to 16, feeding time in the Zoo is the same time zone as coming to watch footie. So Mum, Dad & with kids often don't come but can to the 7 pm match as they can feed littlies at 5:30pm. Hate 5 pm games, and Sunday 5 pm worst nightmare for families.

Mariners hit by injury 8/11/2007 8:31:27 AM Paul Newman Sportal
The Central Coast Mariners head into Saturday's top-of-the-table Hyundai A-League clash against Adelaide on Saturday short on numbers again but coach Lawrie McKinna is confident that all bases are covered.
"We only have 16 players available for selection this week but we have options in each position where we have lost players," McKinna said.
"We're starting to get players back while other clubs are now getting hit by injuries. In a couple of weeks we will be almost back to full strength so we're looking good for the back half of the season."
Wing back Dean Heffernan and centre half Mile Jedinak both return from one-week suspensions to take their place in the starting side.
Heffernan's return to the defensive line is timely with young defender Nigel Boogaard sidelined with a calf injury.
Boogaard participated in a three-day Olyroos training camp in Sydney this week but rather than train with the rest of the squad spent the time having treatment on his injury.
Heffernan returns to left back allowing Tony Vidmar to switch back to central defence to partner captain Alex Wilkinson who survived a full game against Melbourne after returning from nine weeks on the sideline last week.
McKinna said he has no hesitation in starting Jedinak back in the centre of the park.
"We missed his defence and his height last week," McKinna said.
Jedinak will partner John Hutchinson in central midfield but McKinna's biggest selection dilemma is who will take the place of suspended striker and leading goal scorer Sasho Petrovski.
McKinna said he will either promote young striker Matt Simon from the bench to play up front with World Cup goal scorer John Aloisi or move midfielder Adam Kwasnik into the striker's role.
"Big Matty did well coming off the bench running 70 metres to make the cross which produced our first goal," McKinna said.
"Kwas will also do the job for us but he's still getting back to full fitness."
McKinna was also considering a start for Andre Gumprecht this week but ruled that out when the midfielder strained his hamstring at training on Tuesday.
Following the match against Adelaide at Gosford on Saturday the Mariners travel to Perth. For that game they will be without Olyroos representatives Boogaard and goalkeeper Danny Vukovic but should have both Damien Brown and Paul O'Grady back from injury.
A return for luckless striker Nik Mrdja this season has been ruled out and he will undergo a knee operation.
McKinna is hopeful of signing an injury replacement for Mrdja and has been bombared by agents putting forward State League players.
"We're in no hurry but will start to have a look at some of these boys over the next couple of weeks," McKinna said.

interesting story - there is no way that simon will start as he would have to drop either tommy, kwas or owens - ditto for gumps - that story reads like tommy will move to the left (unless heff pushes more forward and tommy is given a free role) - be good to get a gun right back as the injury replacement for nik (how old is roberto carlos these days )

Carlos is happy playing in Turkey with Nick Carle last I read. Looks like the team will be Danny Clarky Wilko Viddie Heff - - - - - -- Jedi Owens - Hutch - Tommy - - - - JA - - - - Kwas But kind of similar to season one I think it will tend to rotate around into a sort of Danny - - Clark Wilko Viddie Owens - Jedi - - - - Heff - - - Hutch - Tommy - - - - JA - - - Kwas Really looking forward to the match. We've been in probably 3 of the top 5 most entertaining games this season so far and this one genuinely has the look about it that it could top all of those. With Matty, Gumps and Porter off the bench again we can come home strong if need be. Both of these teams should play to their strengths which is ATTACK!

I was surprised to not see him on the park, or at least the bench last week. I think McAndrew is fit, but i'm not sure he's ready. Having said that I haven't really seen him play, so I guess I can't comment. I reckon Gumps might play off the bench.

I think I would prefer to swap Tommy and Kwas and have Tommy sitting behind Aloisi. However if Kwas is not fully fit up front is probably a better place for him. Most of Tommy's moves fromthe wing seem to be towards the centre of the park anyway I am sure they will mix it up. I hope Gumps is fit enough to play that impact role off the bench. It could become a regular spot for him and earn him another year. Looking forward to it. I wonder if Nick will be given a chance like Boogs next year to earn a contract by playing in the winter. I would love to have him fully fit and up front, think of the options.

I would like to see
---------------------------Danny Clark-----------Vidmar---------Wilko------------Heff Owens---------Hutcho-------Jedinak---------Kwas ---------------------Tommy------------------------------ ---------------------------------Aloisi
Tommy is more effective in the middle and with Owens and Kwas up the sides I think we offer more.

AT the movember shave off stringers said he's fit and availible it was just up to selectors cleary he wouldnt be match fit. I think mc andrew is fit just not getting selected because he's not ready Gumps might be less then 100% but when he comes on as the impact player he'll give 130% my team ---------------------danny Clarky/stringers-------wilko viddy--------- --------------------jedi------------------------------heff ---------owens-------------hutch--------- ---------------tommy----------------kwazzy-- ---------------------ALOISI---------------------- subs in this order gumps/porter/simon assuming its close and we wanna go with attacking options otherwise bring porter on to help out defensivly then gumps
