If you believe it when our coach/club say they are not signing someone, more fool you. Dose history not tell you this? Im more inclined to believe that when they say they are not after someone, that we are after that person more than ever. Time will tell, all im saying is that its would be great to snag him, if for nothing else than to rub it into Sydney even more, and to add an extra name to Brett's banner

Yorke aint scoring in the EPL? That I have seen anyway? Is he playing? Personally, for the money he would command UNDER THE SALARY CAP (assuming we sign Aloisi), spend it on someone like Bertos who can cross a ball, or Burns or anyone who can cross and create. $300k could be 2 very useful HAL players instead of a 36/37 year old Yorke IMO......but in saying that whatever Lawrie and Lyall decides is best for the team we'll all support

Wouldn't Yorke's wae be reduced because he will be a member of the coaching staff? The article stated that only $150,000 would go to towards the cap. BTW DJ, Yorke scired the other week for Sunderland when they played Everton.

I hear all of your comments, but think of it like this..
IF he comes, would you boo him and have banners saying "your to old" or "what a waste of money"?
No. You would all bloody love him feeding thru ball after thru ball to Aloisi, and slotting a few himself in between. Im sure we could fit both into the squad somehow money wise.
Imagine what someone like Kwas would learn from Yorke.
None of you could seriously argue with this post, surely.

All of this is for nought anyway, Lyall was quoted in the Advocate today saying that he wasn't meeting Yorke in England, not to mention Lawrie's spray earlier in the week about hack journalists making up bullsh*t stories.......
Guys, we've got to be more wary of "exclusives" with no sources from journo's, especially at News Limited papers. You've seen before just how hard journo's can f*ck us over - need I mention the CCE saga??
Headline creating rubbish, and nothing else. Yorke will not be playing for the Mariners next season. And if he did end up here for some _stupid_ reason, what a pissweak waste of money. I'd prefer Bridge over Yorke anyday. We've got enough goal creators - we need to invest in goal _scorers_.

And Bridge has scored how many goals this year? Fact is Aloisi would be Marquee - No Salary Cap issue Fact is that I'd be happy with Yorke but I'd also be happy with a Burns or some other creative player. Forget wide players - if we don't create in the mid field then Aloisi ain't worth $5 let alone $500k. We need a creative midfielder.

IMO there would be better options for a marquee player (Aloisi), and if we try and squeeze him under the cap that's a big chunk of it used and I feel there's good younger talent around who can do a fantastic job. As said in earlier posts thou, it's not going to happen. The only creative player we have ATM is Tommy P, he is on his last year of contract............if we lose him who do we get? Even better situation is to re-sign and Tommy and get another player on equal playing ability to really give us some fire power in that attacking midfield position. Hard to know what Lawrie's plans are with Tommy, he was out of favour at the start of the year (which I was surprised at as I thought he had a great pre-season) then forced his way back into the starting 11. Personally I hope he gets another year.

I think its the opposite, we need to have more goal creators of quality, we have arguably the scariest strikers in the league in Aloisi and sasho, then theres Matty, and Nick (or whoever will replace him one day). the only link we are missing is the attacking mid IMO, our defense is solid.
