Last Saturday was the first week of registrations and it looks like there will be close to a 20% increase in numbers over the Coast. This is massive news for football on the Coast.
At Ourimbah-Uni our numbers have exploded and we are close to last year's numbers in only the first week.
We have already registered three under 5 teams (same number as last year) in the first week and expect to go to six.
Football is becoming massive.
With the expected decline in rugby league regos I think it is about time we start taking over rugby grounds as football grounds.
This has already happened in Newcastle. If anyone knows the ovals in front of Enema Stadium it used to be league grounds but now they are football grounds.
My heart goes out to Amber and Murray in the CCF office. It is obvious by Amber's absence that they are flat chat

Good stuff. It was all predicted...but there's nothing better than seeing the runs on the board.
What about next year after a World Cup campaign?

How are they going to cater for all of these new teams. Grounds were just about at saturation point last season.
Surely there is a few dollars to be made by high schools in leasing their grounds.
I heard The Rah Rahs have done a deal to establish a rugby field at the showground, cricket are spending big bucks at Mt Penang. Surely some sort of deal should be looked at to go in with cricket and turn Mt Penang into a Central Coast Showpiece. Cricket Council, state gov and CCF should go in together.
What's happening with the new grounds at Kincumber?
Two new fields in 2007 at Kanwal, however with Warnervale set to boom they are almost not enough already.

CCUFC put in a tender last year for the redevelopment of Mt Penang to make it the new home of Rep Soccer on the Coast (much hard work done by Mariners Employee Joe Spiteri drafting proposal for tender, CCUFC former Club Secretary)but unfortunately was unsuccessful, losing out to the winners, Cricket you say? thought it was Rugby? but you are prob correct. CCUFC even made suggestions of joint venture, but to no avail.

the two new fields at kanwal are just replacing the old two fields that i currently play on. theyre turning my beloved rovers home into a housing developement. last year i played at wadalba highschool the problem with high school grounds is that they are usualy treated like shit and dug up.
imagine ur free infront of goal with only the keeper in front of you. some one passes you a square ball. ur thinking ok, i wil hit this 1st time because the defence is now aiming for you. the ball is gettin closer and closer, and suddenly bang, its up in the air. WTF! so then have to bring it down, but by then, some one is right on top of your feet and you cant get a shot away. happend to me 3 times.
ummm. why did i just write that??

Sounds like Umina Oval! That's ridiculous turning Kanwal oval into housing. It's the area on the coast that needs facilities more than any other with the population explosion that's happening there. some one passes you a square ball. ur thinking ok, i wil hit this 1st time because the defence is now aiming for you. the ball is gettin closer and closer, and suddenly bang, its up in the air. Grounds are certainly an issue. I saw a football registration projection for the central coast that showed figures in the order of 20 - 24k in the next 15 years ( or some extrordinary amount similar to this) I cannot remember where i read it.
I cannot see how we can cope with massive increases in numbers. There is barely enough fields now.
I know at umina, alot of junior teams play probably 60 - 70% of their games away from home because the club cannot schedule any more home games. There is only so many games you can play on a saturday and sunday at any given field.
These big numbers are good though.
Just out of interest, how do we know that the RL rego numbers down?

There is only so many games you can play on a saturday and sunday at any given field. It is not just Umina, it is also Kincumber as well. Kincumber is one of the biggest clubs on the coast and if you get a home game at frost you can thank yourself lucky it just never happens because there is the rugby league there. It is fine on a Sunday because the League doesnt usually play on Sunday but on Saturday we play alot of our home games at East Gosford, or even one game we played Umina at Woy Woy, it was more like an away game to them, well in distance anyway. Last season I played 5 home games in the first 10 games of the season and all of them were at frost and then after that i didnt play another home game for the rest of the season but the sad thing is we could consider that a good year. In Kincumber, Terrigal or some of the other big clubs that only have 1 field You better hope you get in the A's other wise you wont get many games at your home ground. With the Number of people playing the Council need to really pull thier heads out and realise they just cant sit there and do nothing.

Matt aren't there two new fields on the way at Kincumber south? Yea they are for the Rugby League, from what i have heard they have got half way through them and the council then put the money from that into Woy Woy Pool so they have no money to do the ground and from last time i heard it will be a while before it gets done. I dont know if they have done anything lately maybe someone that drives past kincumber south might be able to tell me

My 2 little one's are playing football this season because of their support for the Mariners. That will be all 8 kids have played football however, only 3 are left.
Today when Angus signed up he even styled his hair like Heffernan & Sophia stands taller than all her other 8 year old friends just like her idol Michael Beauchamp. These mighty mariners have certainly influenced my kids into playing football this season. I wonder how many others.
