The work that Simon and Porter have done with the Mariners obviously helped :-)
Great start boys

Full match report from last night: spirit.webcity.com.au/AFN/2006-2007/O1/SL-R1-BWvsCC.htmDibo, did you go to historic Arlington Oval with its portugese tarts, real wooden seats, and much too much sand? Big ask for the students against the bolstered Hawks.

OK, solid enough though nothing special. He didn't venture forward much like he used to. I think he is feeling his way back. Lawrie said he would need to get match fitness.

at home to fraser park on saturday night The youth league teams had their fixtures against Fraser Park last weekend and did very well, losing in the 13s and 15s and winning in the 14s, 16s and 18s. Fraser Park were a shadow of their former selves, or maybe our boys are just getting better. I like to believe the latter. They're away to Granville this weekend.

It was on, but I wished it wasnt.
Not having seen them so far this season, I couldnt work out if they were :-
1) Not very good but had played 2 poor sides before 2) Having an off night 3) Northern Tigers are a much better side all round
Or a combination of all 3.
The less said about their performance the better but as for the Mariners on show:-
Trotty - Did well when he had to. Not at fault for the goal, 1:1 and hit across him with power
Boogs - Obviously unfit (as to be expected) but by far the classiest player there. Reads the game incredibly well and is prepared to go on forward runs (a la Meggsi). Great tackler too
Porter - Faded in and out, was dominated in a packed MF. Getting really stroppy and had a few harsh words for a few of his team mates at times too.
Simon - Lots of effort..........possibly not the saviour we are looking for (I think thats tactful enough).
Was impressed by a guy in MF (Darren Cooper) one of the few Lightning players who looed like he was up for it. Good player. Andrew Myles played quite well too.
L McK was there and he makes time for everyone. Spent time talking to kids and really is a stand out bloke IMHO.
