We've just been advised grounds are open. Kariong WAA4's are playing Umina at home on sunday. First game against them was 7-1 (our very first game), second game was 1-0 (we only had 10 players). I wonder how we'll go this time..........

Most grounds. A few are closed for tonight.
We're playing SEU @ James Browne this Sunday...can't believe it's halfway through the season already.

the tuggerah u 16a's may be good but their coach thinks he's coaching man utd or some big club. there i was playing under 16c's today against terrigal ( we won 1-0 ) knowing that probably the best best game of the weekend in the juniors was going to be following my game, tuggerah 16a's against gosford 16a's. UNTIL the tuggerah inspected the maidensbrush field ( also cricket ground ) and thinks the field isn't level because of the bloody pitch and doesnt want any of his players getting injuried. so what does he do you say he calls the bloody game off !!!!! i was talking to my mates in the gossie side and they were wanting to play as they dont act like superstars and dont care where they bloody play .

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
The referee abandoned the game.

Let's not assume the ref only abandoned the match because of the Tuggerah coach - nobody here knows what was said or what the referee was thinking. pubbrawler - doesn't look like we're going to be getting that rain - barely a cloud in the sky

I can tell you exactly what was said, the Gosford and Tuggerah coaches had a discussion with the referees director who advised that he didnt think the ground was safe. The referee was then asked for his opinion he deemed the ground unsafe for the level of play (16A's), the coaches had no option but to abide by that decision and in any case the game was going to be played as a shortened game this was not fair to the kids. The coaches consulted each other and the ref made the decision, if you had of walked into the middle of the ground you would have noticed the 2' concrete lip running around the edge of the cricket ground, fool. The ref's association were under the impression that the pitch had been covered as is the norm, it wasnt and in so being was unsafe. Excuse the Gosford and Tuggerah coaches and managers for talking this through and making a decision in the best interests of the kids, excuse them for not wanting to play a shortened game, excuse them for not putting the kids at risk and spoiling your afternoon. There is only one thing I am sorry for and that is people like you pointing fingers at the Tuggerah coach AGAIN without knowing the facts, grow up.

anyway.... SEU 35c's played gosford at james brown and drew 2-2 - I scored my first goal in 30 years, haha! there's nothing sweeter folks. Still, three weeks without a game makes us oldies a tired bunch. porr old gosford are an unlucky bunch, havent won a game yet but havent lost by more than one goal all season. our comp is closer than the point spread looks.

It's the referee's decision to abandon a game and his alone, and each referee could have a different opinion.
It's rained a bit here in wamberal, maybe tomorrow might be off for some?

Benchwarmer, now you have given us the "facts" please answer the following. Is the referees director who was spoken to related to any player in one of the sides. ? Who called or spoke to him first Tug. or Gos. ? If it happened as you say why didn't the Gos. and Tug. coach approach the referee appointed to the match to decide before going above his head. ? Isn't the decision up to the referee of the match. ? Did the referee in question run a line for the 16 C"s and why is the ground "safe" for 16C's, 14D's, 11A's 10b"s, 15C's, etc but not 16A's. ? "Where in the rules of Football does it state "unsafe for level of play (16A's) " or do other sides just have to lump it.? "Was the match only shortened due to deliberation over the condition of the field ". , if so why is this a valid excuse for not playing. ? Finally how about giving mariners4ever a break he is only 16, and as you may realise is in the "process of growing up".

when i was playing in the game before the probably only unsafe thing was probably the muddy grass and NOT the cricket pitch. Anyways why was the A's playing at maidensbrush anyway shouldn't they play at either gavenlock or tuggerah or maybe at some other field if the ref had known about the field already!!!
