Did the Scum really turn down Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite? HAVING previously missed out on boom youngsters Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite, Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond has urged the club not to make the same mistake with James Holland. Newcastle have tabled an offer to Holland but it is less than Holland's management are seeking. The Jets are one of four A-League clubs interested in signing the 18-year-old midfielder, who returned yesterday from a two-week trial in Belgium. The club was in a similar position at the start of last season when Burns and Djite were on the market but baulked.
The pair joined Adelaide and have since become the hottest property in the league.
"The last thing you want to do as a club, I would have thought, is lose a player who is potentially going to make the club money, ie Nathan Burns," van Egmond said.
"We missed out on Burns when he was offered to us; we missed out on Bruce Djite when he was offered to us.
"Hopefully we don't make the same mistake again."Our recruiting needs a swift kick up the bum.

One day you guys will relise what a "my way or the highway" hard head owns your club. The addage 'cut your nose off to spit your face" is found in Websters under "C" for Con.

Remo is bringing the skills and abilities he displayed for the NSW Liberals. Add that to CC's idiocy and you have a simple explaination for why your club is a laughing stock.
GVE is far too talented a coach to put up with that kinda crap for too much longer. If Melb dump Merrick, you would expect GVE to be very high up their list.

Might be old news but according to the Newcastle forum they are almost one step closer to realising Cons dream of an entire squad of Griffithses with the possible arrival of Ryan

We turned down Nathan Burns at the end of Season one when Richard Money was in charge then Nick Theo came in when Bruce was offered to us. it was a real shame we didnt pick them up at the time. But thats life i guess.
We do now have Holland, which is really good for us. Seeing the Stu will be moving on at end of season (By the Looks of it)

The Newcaslte knights have seemingly signed a 12 year lease to be the main tenants of Energy Australia Stadium.

They were the main tennants to begin with so I cant see it making much difference. With the refurbishment to begin early next year I think, it will mean the jets will have to contend with a stadium under construction during the next season but for a little pain they are going to get a great venue and contribute no capital to it so i think its a pretty good deal
