Romario was a guest signing, Played four games, got a trap in and farked off. At least Jardel will be here for whole season, if not more. And i know my facts, thats why i post. You claim to know your facts, yet you obviously still think that Romario was not a striker, which in turn makes you look even more of a twat. I can see it now, Sydney end up getting Zidane for the guest appearance against LA Galaxy, and timmyv comes on here and says "Why would they sign him anyway, he was a crap keeper". Dickhead.

Timmyv - do you honestly think that Jardel is here for any different reason than what Romario was? Money?
Jardel doesn't give a shit about the HAL, won't care for the HAL when he leaves, he probably didn't even know it existed or where Newcastle was before the Jets got in contact with him.
Jardel is here because europe doesn't want him, he's knows he's unfit and probably thinks the league will be easier.................I honestky hope for the leagues sake that he isn't a Berti.

Wait for the tar & feather brigade when he hasn't played the first half dozen games. I hear he is about as fit as Amanda Vanstone after the xmas break. I wonder how he likes being told to do extra fitness work by a coach he never heard of in a league he never heard of.

I guess 'we' as jets fans are looking for the positives, from this. Is Jardel overweight? Yes. Has the past couple of years been poor from Jardel? Yes. There is no denying these things, they are fact. If he regains half of the skills he lost he will be one of the (if not the) top stiker in Australia, no question.
The Jets (or scum as you know us) have taken a gamble. If it pays off we will be sitting pretty at the top of the table. If not then we are no worse off then how we were looking before we signed him.

The problem I think with players like this is they are often seen as a one man solution/saviour. while they undeniably had class they need to fit in and find form in this league. I see Sydney doing it as well. good luck to him as long as he doesn't score against us.

One man does not maketh a team..... just look at what happened to Adelaid when Romario was a guest....

One man does not maketh a team..... just look at what happened to Adelaid when Romario was a guest.... on the other hand, Dwight Yorke FC did pretty well

One man does not maketh a team..... just look at what happened to Adelaid when Romario was a guest.... Romario was publicity stunt. Thats all. Sydneys 2 fellows (Yorke and juninhio) and Jardel, have been the only 3 imports that have any sought of pedigree behind them and were signed for the season and each have the potential (note: potential) to 'maketh the team'. Jardel will not make the team WIN everything. But he is the type of player that 'could' change a team from 5th place to 4th place, which in HAL is massive.

Im afraid i have to agree with you Drew (how i will pay for this at indoor), i know for a fact that fans of these teams seem to think that these players are saviours. While this is not totally correct, it is close to the truth. A player with the skills or pedigree of Carle, Juninhio, Mori, Yorke, Jardel. Can turn a so-so team into playoff contenders. So in roundabout terms they are saviours (or one man solutions) just not to the extent fans seem to think.

Realistic expectations of improving a team are fine and knowledgeable fans will see this as the impact they will have, when people are saying they will be champions because they have signed a Jardel or a Juninhio I think they are overstating the impact one player will make. Hopefully these players will attract crowds in the gates. We saw what a difference Mori made to our team last year but I think Heff's effect on the team has been overestimated by a lot of fans around the coast. If a player fits with the team they become an asset and strengthen the whole where as a player that doesn't fit in (Romario) they weaken the team. Don't worry Dane I won't tell to many people at indoor that you agreed with a "coastie scummer"
