Romario was a guest signing, Played four games, got a trap in and farked off. At least Jardel will be here for whole season, if not more. And i know my facts, thats why i post. You claim to know your facts, yet you obviously still think that Romario was not a striker, which in turn makes you look even more of a twat. I can see it now, Sydney end up getting Zidane for the guest appearance against LA Galaxy, and timmyv comes on here and says "Why would they sign him anyway, he was a crap keeper". Dickhead. when at all did i say the Romario wasnt a Striker? I couldnt care if Zidane came out here for the Guest game. Its gunna do fark all for my club.

Timmyv - do you honestly think that Jardel is here for any different reason than what Romario was? Money? Jardel doesn't give a shit about the HAL, won't care for the HAL when he leaves, he probably didn't even know it existed or where Newcastle was before the Jets got in contact with him. Jardel is here because europe doesn't want him, he's knows he's unfit and probably thinks the league will be easier.................I honestky hope for the leagues sake that he isn't a Berti. Maybe, maybe not. But from what he has said in the various Media and from what he said yesterday, he is over here to finish his career on a high. With some Cups and score some goals. He said himself yesterday that he has alot to improve on, but cant wait till season starts.

The problem I think with players like this is they are often seen as a one man solution/saviour. while they undeniably had class they need to fit in and find form in this league. I see Sydney doing it as well. good luck to him as long as he doesn't score against us. and van egmond is talking about changing his tactics to accommodate jardel Far from it. He has playing playing the same role that our centre Foward has been playing in our 4-2-3-1 system.

I guess 'we' as jets fans are looking for the positives, from this. Is Jardel overweight? Yes. Has the past couple of years been poor from Jardel? Yes. There is no denying these things, they are fact. If he regains half of the skills he lost he will be one of the (if not the) top stiker in Australia, no question. The Jets (or scum as you know us) have taken a gamble. If it pays off we will be sitting pretty at the top of the table. If not then we are no worse off then how we were looking before we signed him. Congrats, I think your the 1st jets fan that has come on and not made an ass of himself. Agree 100% with all your comments. Timmyv, take notes. Get ya head out of The Coves arse champ or are you moving onto the SCC now? What newie has said it basically what i have been saying. Jardel isnt the best striker in the world atm, but We have to get the best out of him while he is here. Edit: Typo

How can he be the 'best striker' in the world now, when he hasn't played for a while, and is yet to prove himself in the A-league - not quite the most acomplished league in the world ATM... He WAS good, but there's been no proof that he IS good now (a few A-league matches will be an indicator about him) and he certainly ain't the best striker in the world.

Timmy, you never actually said that Romario isn't a striker. However, you did say that Jardel is the best striker to play in the A-league, so you're either saying that Jardel is better than Romario, or Romario isn't a striker. The general consensus on this forum is that Romario is a lot better than Jardel, making you sound like your saying that Romario isn't a striker. Also, what the f*ck does the cove or SCC have to do with this? ? Oh, and Jardel is no where near the best striker in the world ATM.

Timmy - what he say in the media is 1 thing.......what he really thinks is another!
I'm not 100% convinced that he will succeed in the HAL in the way that he should, but there is no doubt he has/had the talent once and it's a gamble worth taking. I can't believe you said he's the best striker in the world atm thou lol, Jardel or Rooney? Jardel or Henry? Jardel or Messi? lol tough choices!
Andy - Newcastle fans seem to think that us and the Cove are bum chums........very strange I know but if it makes them happy let them be I guess? All came about because a small group of Marinators went and cheered anti Newcastle chants when they played Sydney.................

All I can think of to say is Are you serious timmyv, or taking the piss. You must be quite young, and influenced by the words of those older people you look up to, who obviously have no idea if they think an overweight recovering drugo is the best striker in the world. Or perhaps you are older, and have so much blind faith in your teams management that you are trying to defend the signing of an overweight recovering drugo by turning the blind eye to what everyone else can quite clearly see. Either way, I reckon the chant "you dont know what your doing" was made for you.

I think i'll give timmy the benefit of the doubt seeing he has atrocious typing skills &/or failure to proof read. I'm guessing he meant isn't the best atm.
I suggest you use the escape hatch I just opened & you really need to be more carefull with your typing.

Anyways, i do think that JArdel has the potential to be the Best striker to play in our league. After thinking about it. Romario maybe have more goals but i do believe that Jardel is a better player. Not just because he plays for my club. But all of his success in Europe does show what kinda of player he is.

He has said all along that he is here to find some new form and Spend as long as he can in the A-league and win us some Cups. His drug and weight issues are like 2yrs or somethign ago. Everybody can changed from there old ways. im not trying to defend that club at all. Im trying to see the positives out of his signing, whcih i think can he huge for us and the League. btw im 20. i know im only young but i have been a very passionate supportter of my club since the old nsl days. I travel to as many games as i can, and as many newie fans know i do work 24/7 for the Squadron and helping us grow. I may have a different opinon on issues to some, but im only human.

Talk to the more passinate supportters from Melbourne Adelaide and qld and theyll all tell you the same thing. ANd after reading the latest 442, just makes it worse with the cove and marinators respect comment. im not having a dig, but why would you want respect with Sydney? They are our rivals, for both of us. We should hate them with a passion, But in saying that, hate towards any other australian football support can only go so far. They do support that game that you love.

I think every Brazilian football fan would consider Jardel a fair way down the list from Romario to be honest. I think you need to look at his record. Without taking anything from Jardel, few players to ever lace a boot could equal Romario's record.
Romario South American championship (U 20): 1985 Rio state league's top scorer: 1986, 1987, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 Olympic Games's top scorer: 1988 Dutch league's top scorer: 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 Dutch Cup's top scorer: 1989, 1990 Brazilian champions league's top scorer: 1990 European Champions League's top scorer: 1990, 1993 Spanish league's top scorer: 1994 The best South American top player of the Spanish league (EFE trophy): 1994 World Cup's most valued player Golden ball award: 1994 Onze d'Or (top player of the year: 1994 FIFA World player of the year: 1994 Confederations Cup's top scorer: 1997 Rio-São Paulo tournament's top scorer: 1997, 2000 Brazilian Cup's top scorer: 1998, 1999 Copa Mercosul's top scorer: 1999, 2000 João Havelange's top scorer: 2000 Top player of the Intercontinental Cup's final: 2000 Brazilian Bola de Prata (Placar): 2000 El Pais newspaper (top player): 2000 Brazilian league's top scorer: 2001, 2005

We play an annual game between the 2 sets of fans for some fun and we have chant offs in the pub....for fun. You can still have a rivalry without being a bunch of f***itts, to say we should hate Sydney fans because they support Sydney is just immature........When the Mariners play Sydney I want 3 points, I want to shout abuse at their players, I want to chant anti Sydney chants...........but at the end of the day it's all a bit of fun.
