Apparently Ivory Coast is looking doubtful to send a team to this years World Cup in Germany. Theres still Civil War going on with the Rebels holding the North (for those who know the Geography of Ivory Coast) and the South (which is close to the bottom of the country).
They might not be sending a team as the Rebels have bombed the last form of transport which was a Rickshaw pulled by two goats.
a Bye round in the first leg of the World Cup?

I doubt they'd punish them if it was due to war.

they are a good team, they recently lost on penalties in final of African Nations cup - drogba missed his penalty (he misses too many shots for what chelsea pay him doesn't he?) - but they are in a very hard group for world cup

the story is true, everything besides the goats.
the Prime Minister of Cote dIvoire has said it looks doubtful as the country is still in turmoil. many were thinking that them making the World Cup for the first time ever would have calmed things down, but it didnt and things are still shaky for the country.
in their group they have; Serbia, Holland, Argentina i think
Ouch.

They'll be able to play theres surely more than 23 people from the ivory coast not living there that they could call on

Would be extremely sad if they didnt make it.
Given Blatter's/FIFA's Pro-African stance, i would say 100% another African team to replace them ( Sudan i think). Even if a European/Concaf nation dropped out, an African nation would get in IMO. Not that i have an issue with it.

i think it would be egypt if anyone, unless fifa reverts back to the standing from the world cup qualifiers. they should replace togo and angola why they're at it, or just get egypt and sudan to invade one each

The other option I thought of would be getting the two playoff losers Uruguay and Bahrain to play each other to see who is the biggest loser. The winner would get a pity spot because no one could get out of that group of death anyway. But another African team that'd be good too.
