yet another refereeing f***up - foul on podolski in the box, ref blows his whistle, sets a free kick outside the box! if he didn't realise it was inside the box (and it was obvious enough), the assistant should have told him. that would have been 1-0 germany and pretty much over and out in normal time. i won't say germany were robbed, italy stuck the goal away when it mattered (the second was icing, nothing else - del piero is but a shadow of his former self), but i'm looking forward to watching france portugal tomorrow and then france belting the whinging diving italy team* in the final. *mind you - ballack pulled off a little 'grosso dive' this morning too, i think it was materazzi who made a little 'diving' gesture to the referee. the dive was wrong, but i didn't seem to see any of that last week...

whatever... del piero couldn't have had an easier run at lehmann if there were a qantas ground control staff guiding him in. i could have scored that goal, and as people who have played with me know, i'm shit. FFS...
pierlo - now he's quality. the vision for the ball to grosso when lesser players (paging michael ballack, your schnitzel is ready) would have tried to beat a man or shoot was fantastic.
and fabio cannavaro... and gennaro gattuso...
honestly, why you're yanking over del piero when there's some actual quality players in that side who are this side of 80 astounds me.
miroslav klose was disappointing, as was podolski but to a lesser extent and as i've posted before i thought he was robbed of a penalty.
meh, if italy go a long way, it will make the aussies look better. but i just don't like their team. i swear if i had've been playing on totti, after about 5 minutes of his pantomime falling over act i would have resolved to kick him into the terraces as soon as i could get within coo-ee of him. what a complete nonce. same to you luca toni - a guy that big should not be that soft.
bollocks to them.
allez les bleus!

no, i think he made more of it than there was, but he was clearly kicked in the box and it impeded him. penalty. i disagree with the notion that it was a dive, because there was a foul there, it's just that he made a lot of it. this contrasts neatly with cristiano ronaldo who ran past two french defenders at a corner and did something between a belly flop and a swan dive to claim a penalty with not so much as a french tickle ( ;D), a claim that was thankfully denied.
remember, i thought the penalty call on neill was justifiable too, so i'm being consistent here.
besides, the worst diving in the game came from franck ribery. anytime there was contact, he'd wave his arms in the air and flap his hands and fall over. it'd be funny if it wasn't flat out cheating, but the ref was pretty good i thought, and didn't cop it. he didn't card him either, but i'd rather that than carding people for some fresh air dives and paying free kicks to others.

yep you are consistent...... i think that both grosso and henry milked the penalty - it's an art that the aussie players haven't learnt yet, but need to if they are to compete against such teams as argentina and other south americans and some euro teams too!

That is the 2nd time in this competition that Henry has exaggerated a situation. While a penalty may have been the correct decision and a free kick also against Spain, Henry's theatrics have added to a new reputation for bad sportsmanship. He used to be someone to admire but ever since his whinge after the Champions League final he seems to have lost the plot. He should get back to letting his football do the talking because he is undoubtedly a great player.

Thierry definately dived. he must go to some italian training sessions. ITALY. DIVING CHAMPONS. 06. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. he was defintely fouled and he defintely exagerated the dive so in all honesty he should have been given the penalty and a card for simulation now that would be weird! of course it would never happen but logically there is no reason why it shouldn't

This world cup has really highlighted how detrimental to the game it is becoming they need to show some courage itll only take one ref to start
