It was very hard work - besides the others were already doing it.
The band who did The Devil Went Down To Georgia is called the Charlie Daniels Band.

I've just started getting into the velvet revolver ... solid I sincerely hope you have heard the first 2 Stone Temple Pilot albums? Scotts best work IMO. Saw them at Brixton Academy a few years ago just before they split. Got to meet them...he is a f***ed up unit. Dont know if anyone on here is into punk (no, not simple plan/ 'new'offspring ) but i just got a call from a good mate of mine who as i write this is doing the rock n roll thing with The Misfits in Johnny Depps Viper Room club,LA. He is a roadie on their current USA/European tour and has spent the past few days hanging out with the guys from Pennywise.

what about Radio Birdman - awesome. Artic Monkeys have some good stuff at the moment. I watching on cable the other day I saw Green Day vs Guns + Roses, the winner by a mile was the Gunners though Green Day have same brilliant songs

Yeah i dont know much of the early greenday songs, but the ones i do, i must agree most are much better, i love time of yor life and the other one i think its called poprocks and coke, it goes soemthig like: 'if theres a truth you know ill take you there, ill go anywhere' or something along those lines. My favorite ofspring song would be esteem or whatever its called, dont know the name biut love the song

Hey Red Vedder- I love Pennywise, they are amazing! R.I.P Jason Thirsk Great band, been getting into the early Bad Religion releases too. Saw them at Reading festival a few years back. No-one else on the 3-day bill compared. The whole So-Cal punk movement was awesome. Damn, im getting homesick. English festivals are the best. Theyve got something called Big Day Out over here, grimsby. Fairly good line-ups but just ONE day long! Must be too far to get to paradise!

only the early greeday though. same for the offspring, anyone heard their cover of hey joe? No, will look it up now. Do you have 'Kerplunk' and 'Slapped Out Happy Hours', the 2 releases prior to Dookie? Worth getting, many think 'k' is their best album. Also recently read that Smash is STILL the biggest selling independant album of alltime....twice as much as the 2nd biggest seller. Brett Gurewitz, bad religions guitarist , owns Epitaph records. He played the demo in his car , pulled over , phoned his wife and screamed "Honey, we're gonna be millionaires!" How true! Sellout Best new band on the plant IMO...... The Bronx. Awesome. Following in RATM and ATD-I's footsteps.

I thought that the Violent Femmes "Violent Femmes" was the biggest selling indie album of all time.

Scott Weiland's work with Velvet Revolver is very good and promises great things for future releases. As does Chris Cornell and Audioslave.
As for my faves, AC/DC, Midnight Oil (esp 10-1), any band that includes Neil Finn, Creedence, Pearl Jam, New Order, Bob Dylan (my son has one of his names in honour of the great man), the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith (Living on the Edge is a masterpiece), Live and Led Zeppelin.
I'm right into Unplugged/Acoustic Sessions, eg, the GREAT Neil Young, Eric Clapton and the Oils, who performed a brilliant session in San Franscisco in the early 90's ("The Dead Heart" goes for 10 minutes and includes a spine-tingling didgeridoo solo).

I much prefer Homebake to BDO - probably because the only bands I like playing BDO play Homebake so I save $50ish and go to Homebake.
