Yes, Glen, glad to see that you spelt Shaun Pollock's first name correctly; the great man would be most upset otherwise!!

Mr Celery [qoute] I'm rather pleased with the Qld Bore and Jets, although if there is a better name than Zits, please suggest it![/quote]

spot on what you say
don't want to be picky but the $10 million tag is for the whole of the a-league advertising budget, not the ad

the ad practically is the a-league advertising. besides a few posters and radio commercials that are just teasers also.

WT,
Firstly, I truly cannot believe you are unemployed. As someone who edits publications, I speak from experience; you can write very well. Surely a journalism course at Bathurst, Callaghan or Bruce beckons?
The ad is a masterpiece of film-making, very funky and modern, clearly directed at young people. I can see where the money went. Chad Gibson has very quickly become the face of the A-League.
Time will tell if it has been effective. I agree that the A-League brand could have been more prominent, but it is still a terrific ad despite this.
Your article is good value, and let's hope the A-League crowds are good and importantly, well-behaved. If not, News Ltd will have the knives out, especially Chesterton, Wilson & Kent.

Sea ShantiesOvernight the 'Sea Shanties' section of the marinators.net web site has been split into two separate areas: Sea Shanties - subtitled 'On Shore Leave' This is the public area of our song 'book' that is accessible to all who browse the marinators.net web site. In consultation this week with the Mariners club this page has only material considered suitable for 'families' and the un-football-cultured! Sea Shanties - subtitled "On the Mess Deck' This page becomes viewable once members login as Marinator users of the site. In will contain the FULL range of material. A big thank you to Adz for his work last night in weaving his magic! Please let me know what more recent songs and chants actually used by Bay 16 should be added to the latter site. We could also look into having 'songs of the round' on the site - so that we can learn songs and chants and encourage some focus in what we sing. What do you think? The Games & Reports page has also been updated, with linking to the BOTN match reports.

Songs of the round is good idea, i suggested song of the week a while ago. Makes it easier to learn the harder songs together.

I'm being a bit cheeky here and feel free to 'dickhead' me, but what's the use of some of the songs in the Members section if we get told by the Police not to say this or that at the games? Last night it was the "f" word that was verboten, what's on their list next time? Like auburn and a few others, I really wanna get stuck into the Paper Airplanes on Father's Day, and we don't need the 'thought police' in force.

The police and stadium management have a bit of a 'bee in their bonnet' about it at present, for various reasons not all related to what we do. If we are sensible and keep it to a minimum at least when security and police are lurking it will have more impact anyway! I've always thought that humour works better!
