Hi all, as you know, this coming Sunday's game vs Adelaide is a very special one for lots of reasons...
1/Last game for Mariners for the 06/07 season
2/Lawrie & Christene becoming 'naturalised Aussies' at the stadium before the game
3/We don't know which players are and are not coming back next year
For all these reasons, we intend to make it a HUGE PARTY ATMOSPHERE in the bay!
We have organised several hundred yellow streamers (approved by stadium for this occasion) to be thrown about between the bays, over the front fence, up the scaffold etc. And 1000 yellow and blue balloons!
The idea is that when the players come out on the pitch, bays 15, 16 & 17 EXPLODE into yellow and blue with the steamers being thrown and balloons, flags and banners waved like crazy!
If you can make ANY kind of yellow and blue flag, banner, or poster (yellow plastic bag on a stick will do!) GO FOR IT and bring it down to help with the effect.
This will take a little organising in as much as, we will be putting the rolls of streamers and 1 balloon on some of the seats around those bays and we need the balloons to be individually blown up and held onto, and the streamers to simply be held on to until the players come out. (not before!)
So if you see anyone attempting to throw streamers too early, please let them know of the plan. (we need 2 more volunteers to be at the ground early to stay down the front of each bay with the megaphone, telling everyone what the plan is and what to do etc. Tiger has volunteered one, who else is up for it?
We have generously been supplied the balloons by PARTIES-A-BREEZE at Charmhaven(formaly 'Overall party place' and the streamers at cost, purchased with Marinators funds. So please give em a call on 43939499 and thank them.
This is our chance to really send the boys off with a bang, let them know we're still behind them all the way, give a great send off to any possible players that may end up not coming back to the Mariners in 07/08 and at the same time, have our 'farewell to 06/07 party'! So make sure you spread the word and come on down!
