A series of uniform player standards wouldn't go astray in terms of what I'd like to see in the bay. Similar to this? Yes or ones with their faces. We could hold them up in a formation that has two strikers on those CCMFC 0-0 SFC Sunday afternoons to give the bench a hint...

I like the idea of having player standards but what about the banner? If standards were used at the kick-off there'd be no point having the banner.

Maybe let the clubs sponsors pay for their own advertising space instead of comprosing our credibility by doing it freely for them

Maybe let the clubs sponsors pay for their own advertising space instead of comprosing our credibility by doing it freely for them i quite like the fact we've got a bloody huge banner and don't care at all whether there are (relatively small, not at all over the top) logos on it. it's not like we get super ultrazzzzz browny points for not having logos anywhere. sure, it's not exactly contre le calcio moderno, but quite frankly i don't care. i want to watch football, and i want to support the team. i don't think they think any less of us for having logos on the banner, and so any tards or scummers that complain can get rooted. and it comes down to what the marinators are and where they've come from - in any sort of visual sense it started off as t-shirts in may 2005. these were followed up by shirts in the preseason comp and these were sponsored. had they not been, they might not have happened. ditto the banner, had it not been sponsored, it wouldn't have happened. we're simply not big enough and wealthy enough a group to turn away money for something that's hardly a gross abuse against football support.

Why should we as supporters use ourselves for what is essentially free advertising for those companies?

Why should we as supporters use ourselves for what is essentially free advertising for those companies? i should also accompany my comments with the 'in a perfect world' qualifier. if we were bigger, if we had steadier numbers of generous members and if we had the consequent strong and reliable non-corporate sources of cash then we'd probably be less likely to have any logos anywhere near us. but sadly the first two aren't true yet, so we're stuck with logos on a couple of things for the time being. won't always be the case, as we grow and especially as the average age of the group rises so a majority are in full-time work i'd imagine we'll make a transition away from sponsor-supported stuff. the scarves may well be the start of this trend.

The shirts were $25 (not to sure on that ) surely other t-shirts could have been purchased, printed and sold for that same price or $20 even. And with the banner i disagree with you but i respect that other people have different opinions to mine:)

The shirts were $25 (not to sure on that ) surely other t-shirts could have been purchased, printed and sold for that same price or $20 even. probably could have, i think the first run of shirts may well have been cheaper than that but the lurid yellow was both horrendously ugly *and* really visible and they were higher quality than we could have otherwise got. they served their purpose, and helped build the group, where other shirts may not have. on the price thing, in my old student politics days we used to turn out shirts by the hundred for a unit price of under $10, but they were shite and were only good for the couple of weeks of a student election campaign and even then you couldn't wash them too many times. And with the banner i disagree with you but i respect that other people have different opinions to mine:) likewise, and it's a very healthy topic to debate.
