I know Alex Tobin is a definite but will he play?
What is the prospect of the Mariners poaching a few Newcastle boys that are playing for Central Coast United? Bingley, Thomas, Wolfenden?
What about ex-Spirit players? Jacob Rex is playing locally.

Good to see a team on the Central Coast.....
Maybe some ex-Ourimbah stars could make the grade.

I had thought there would have been more than one ex-Ourimbah player in the world. Do they shoot them after they are done playing?

I can only speculate here, but it seems logical given that McKinna, Ferguson and Tobin a the top 3 guys in the football management, that they'll try to attract the ex-Spirit guys they had last season. The obvious ones are Hutchinson, Fisher, Kwasnik and Wilkinson .... then there are the possible marqee players and guest players.. I guess they'll try to recruit some oldies from o/s (don't even mention Nicola Berti !!!)

The obvious ones are Hutchinson, Fisher, Kwasnik and Wilkinson .... Mr Striker don't forget Groves and Spencer, think Petrie is up in Malaysia somewhere, Rexie is playing on the coast along with Bingers and co, take a look at the teamlist on this board. Bingers is getting on a bit now but as we have seen from previous seasons you need that balanced mix of "old heads" with youthful exuberance. Cheers D.C.

Hendo is playing for Bradford City in the old UK Div 2, Sully has just signed for the O-Limp-rick Sharks for the Summer Comp Premier Lg. Jonty I think is playing in Qld and am sure Vuko will be around somewhere. Lawrie has a handle on them I'm sure and all will be revealed in the "fullness of time" Maybe we need to track down BBB as He is probably not doing a great deal in the UK, don't even know who he is playing for these days. Cheers D.C.

I'm starting to suspect that some of the names who will play in this league may surprise quite a few.
I know this may sound cliched, and w@nky, but I heard from a direct link to the Sydney FC bid last night of 3 players who will likely end up on the roster, both marquee and non marquee, and I can assure you fellas, many will be surprised.
AU have also apparently acquired the services of a very high profile player and I would suspect Venables will do the same with Newcastle.
I am very curious as to who McKenna and Ferguson have in mind in terms of marquees and higher paid players, or even whether they plan on unveiling any names on Monday.
Suppose we're about to find out.

Jonty I think is playing in Qld He played for Queensland Lions in the QPL this year so I wouldn't be surprised if he stays with them when the A-League starts. Vuko's back with Bonnyrigg White Eagles this summer.

From the SBS World Game site, quoting our Chairman:
""Frank hosted a function for the clubs on Sunday night and talked about the importance of co-operation in helping the game in this country," said Ian Kiernan, chairman of Central Coast Mariners.
"Central Coast is committed to focusing on the code and making sure it is a success."
"(But) it's a scramble for everything ..."
"There's got to be competition (for players). Players (here) have been floating, or in other employment (since the end of the NSL), and they're keen to be snapped up."
With each club allowed one 'marquee' player exempt from the $1.5 million salary cap, Kiernan said the Mariners' management team of Lawrie McKinna, Ian Ferguson and Alex Tobin had identified an "amazing" player.
"We do not want a player looking at this like (a retirement benefit). We only want a player of amazing ability, and we have something on the horizon," said Kiernan, who refused to reveal the player's identity."

How about getting Stan back from Brum. I haven't noticed him getting a game much this season - is he injured or just out of favour with Bruce?

How about getting Stan back from Brum. I haven't noticed him getting a game much this season - is he injured or just out of favour with Bruce? Sacko Lazaridis has been out of action for six weeks with a torn quad, supposedly looked good in his comeback game but the rest of the team failed to capitalise on his breaks and crosses. Maybe you should get rid of the 'still hate the bobstand', you seem to be fitting in nicely with the Rowdies and they were the breakers equivalent of the Bob Stand weren't they? Drums, flags, celery. Cheers Hammer
