they signed salley. it is a joke to be able to claim players from teams who didnt make the finals. I dont know if usually they couldnt, since ffa makes all contracts go til march or something i think, but with NZ players not contracted for that length they would be open season.

Sydney sign Salley for finals - AAP
Sydney FC has signed former New Zealand Knights midfielder Jonas Salley to a short-term deal for the A-League finals.
Salley will travel with the Blues to Newcastle on Thursday ahead of Friday's return leg of the elimination semi-final.
While the deal has not yet been cleared by Football Federation Australia, it is expected to be given the stamp of approval from the league's governing body on Thursday.
Salley, who played 10 games for the Knights this season, joins Sydney as an injury replacement for Terry McFlynn.
McFlynn suffered a groin injury last Friday as the Blues claimed a 2-1 advantage in the two-legged showdown against the Jets after the first leg at Aussie Stadium.
Salley, along with the rest of the New Zealand squad, came off contract at the end of the regular season after the club's license was returned to the FFA.

Salley is a free agent as the NZK's player contracts ended after round 21 (I think?) so he is free to sign for SFC if they have the $$.
I suspect he is there to do a job on Carle and it will be interesting to see how he goes alongside better players than previously.
Gives other clubs a chance to assess him too

I think he'll do well. I don't like the situation at all, and it smells a little bit of the ambiguity around the Mori saga. But I wouldn't change any of the laws that allowed it to happen, so I shall live with it and hope it helps them knock the scum out.

By the way, they tried to sign Mori, but a fifa rule has prevented him from playing. You can only play for no more than three clubs in a season. Mori - Adelaide City, Mariners, Roar.
Looks like the gun for hire has his limits.

Salley looked quite good in a dire Bling FC side in 20 mins he played.
reminds me abit of Mekele..maybe we should sign him to replace Spencer?

Jedinak showed he can adequately fill the defensive midfield role. No offence, but it confuses me sometimes when so many players get compared to Makelele just because they are a defensive midfielder. Salley and Makelele play in the same area yes but couldn't be more different in style. (makelele being a holder, a controller, a distributor, and Salley being a harasser, a disrupter, a damager.) I do think Salley looks a good player but with Jedi, Gumps, Porter, Macca, Tommy and sometimes Osman playing in central midfield we don't really need another one considering we have no fullbacks and we're light on the wings.

Spenny has been poor for 2 years but got away with season 1 as he scored a few goals, he may fit into Sydneys system better and become a better player who knows? As long as he don't score against us anyway ;D

Sydney need to fit 6 new players under the cap and they're already on the limit of it.
They'll be paying for their breaches long after the 3 point deduction.
Glavas is the ideal type of signing they'll be looking for...cheap but with some experience.

Glavas is the ideal type of signing they'll be looking for...cheap but with some experience. some being the important word there, he's only had a season in the HAL and most of those appearances were off the bench. IMO he didn't set the league on fire either, perhaps some regular game time will improve what I have already seen? The Sydney forum is also suggesting that Dez Giraldi is on his way there, a former Mariner who never made it on the field for us.

Sounds a lot like Sydney is buying anything it can get it's hands on for value. Spencer is probably free to do what he wants, and we just have to accept the fact he may end up playing with Sydney as a squad player, and whoever is the coach of Sydney next season, may end up putting him on vs. Mariners just to stir some passion. I dare say Spencer would be keen to show us all that his bagging wasn't justified. IMHO, he supposedly played defensive centre midfield, but his defense was quite slack at times.

well sydney need to sign 6 more players. On less than the minimum wage. So have to drop players wages, or let some higher paid go so they have room. Id think anyone on minimum wage would be a chance with any experience
