Can't see many bling players keen to take a pay cut...we should be ready to pounce on anyone decent they decide to let go. Why? So you can overpay them as well? depends who it is? we have room under the salary cap still and if Lawrie thinks we can afford someone why not?

Sydney have looked very poor this year and its got nothing to do with Butcher. If a player can't pass to a team mate 10 yds away what hope have you got. You cant coach shite players...Bingley etc.
I'm not sure who we should pick up from Bling... Maybe Petrovski? I do like the young Kiwi with the Dreads who hasn't been given a run this year. Ceccoli would be a good pick up as they have asked him to take a pay cut. He's probably the stand out player who is up from grabs. Apart from that most have been overated and they are not going to release their best players.....Bolton/Rudan/Corica/Milligan/Carney/Brosque.
definately better players at Adel & Victory IMHO.

Bottom line is they have paid over the odds for players they shouldnt have and are going to reap the rewards for a season or two until they can get them off the books.
Slumping crowds will also hurt their budgets and that is a downward spiral.
Must have read the Peter Risdale book on "how to stuff up a football club"

If they are trying to re-sign players, it's not up to them whether they are released or not. It's up to the player. I don't know which of those guys is off contract but if some are and Sydney is offering them less and they can move just up the road for what they are on now, I don't see why we wouldn't be in with a shout. fwiw I would take Ceccoli in an instant - an experienced, championship winning left back. A proven player in a position we have no one in. Other than the quality players you mentioned I probably wouldn't say no to Middleby, Topor-Stanley and maybe Zadkovich if available. "Must have read the Peter Risdale book on "how to stuff up a football club"" It's a long book.

Not sure I would be keen on Carney unless he came at a basement bargain price. He has been sussed out by every team. Started when Dean Heffernan gave him a lesson in last years grand final.

It would be very, very picky of us to be turning down the likes of Carney in my opinion! He hasn't shone as much this season but he was close to the best in the first and honestly, there haven't been many standouts in V2. And he's young...he's close to the cream of the A-League if you ask me. re: Ceccoli/Browny, it wouldn't hurt to have both of them. I wouldn't be comfortable having Browny as basically our only left back for the season.

I wouldn't have a problem with Ceccoli. Maybe "checkers" could be first choice full-back with Browny to play on the wing depending whether or not SP resigns. He can hit a free-kick aswell. I think Carney will end up staying at Bling.

In today's Daily Telegraph it mentions that Ceccoli was left out of their 21 man squad for the ACL becuase he hasn't signed a new contract with the club. New players listed include, Noel Spencer, Luka Glavas, Adam Casey, Nikholos Tsattalios and 16-year-old Dean Bouzanis.
