Any chance of a mariners supporters bus going down to this game? Very doubtful! More a matter of seeing who you can car pool with! From Central West Daily: "14 June 2007 Beat the ‘keeper By BEN DREWE Central Coast Mariners ‘ Adam Kwusnik comes close to scoring in last year’s clash at Wade Park but the goal drought is yet to be broken. CENTRAL Coast Mariners Football Manager Lawrie McKinna has suggested the top-flight soccer goal drought in Orange could be over as his new recruits are all dangerous attackers. Wade Park hosted the Mariners last July when they took on Adelaide United in the A-League pre-season cup and the score finished at nil-all . This follows on from an NSL game between Wollongong and South Melbourne in 2002 which also finished goal-less. McKinna is aware soccer fans in Orange are desperate to see the ball hit the back of the net and he believes some of the Mariners' off-season acquisitions can deliver that when they take on Queensland Roar at Wade Park on July 21. Former Sydney FC striker Sasho Petrovski is the biggest-name goal scorer to join although new additions like Dean Heffernan and Nathan Burns' former Adelaide team mate, Greg Owens can also beat the 'keeper. "We're happy with the squad. We've signed Sasho Petrovski from Sydney FC and he was their top goal scorer for them for two seasons," McKinna said. "The things we lacked last year were goal scorers so we should better that this year. "Hopefully we can come out and score goals, most of our games against Queensland have had a few goals." The game against Queensland will be the second in the pre-season cup for the Mariners with them having the first chance to face the A-League's newest club, Wellington Phoenix. McKinna is hopeful his side will be heading to Orange with a win up so they can set out to play an entertaining style of soccer. "Hopefully we get a victory there (against Wellington) and then go to Orange and get a few goals," McKinna said. If Orange is to finally see a goal in a top level game it will most likely come from the Mariners with gun shot-stopper Danny Vukovic between the posts again for Central Coast. Vukovic was a stand-out against Adelaide last year with two double saves the highlights of his stingy performance. The 22-year old is currently ranked as the fourth-best Australian goalkeeper with Vukovic named as a shadow player for the Socceroos' Asian Cup campaign which coincides with the start of the A-League pre-season competition. McKinna is expected to be without Vukovic in Orange but is happy he will have his full-strength squad available. "We actually thought he was going (to the Asian Cup). It's not so good for Danny but it's good for us," McKinna said. Tickets for the Mariners versus Queensland Roar game went on sale yesterday and can be purchased from Ticketek."
