Any chance of a mariners supporters bus going down to this game? Very doubtful! More a matter of seeing who you can car pool with! From Central West Daily: "14 June 2007 Beat the ‘keeper By BEN DREWE Central Coast Mariners ‘ Adam Kwusnik comes close to scoring in last year’s clash at Wade Park but the goal drought is yet to be broken. CENTRAL Coast Mariners Football Manager Lawrie McKinna has suggested the top-flight soccer goal drought in Orange could be over as his new recruits are all dangerous attackers. Wade Park hosted the Mariners last July when they took on Adelaide United in the A-League pre-season cup and the score finished at nil-all . This follows on from an NSL game between Wollongong and South Melbourne in 2002 which also finished goal-less. McKinna is aware soccer fans in Orange are desperate to see the ball hit the back of the net and he believes some of the Mariners' off-season acquisitions can deliver that when they take on Queensland Roar at Wade Park on July 21. Former Sydney FC striker Sasho Petrovski is the biggest-name goal scorer to join although new additions like Dean Heffernan and Nathan Burns' former Adelaide team mate, Greg Owens can also beat the 'keeper. "We're happy with the squad. We've signed Sasho Petrovski from Sydney FC and he was their top goal scorer for them for two seasons," McKinna said. "The things we lacked last year were goal scorers so we should better that this year. "Hopefully we can come out and score goals, most of our games against Queensland have had a few goals." The game against Queensland will be the second in the pre-season cup for the Mariners with them having the first chance to face the A-League's newest club, Wellington Phoenix. McKinna is hopeful his side will be heading to Orange with a win up so they can set out to play an entertaining style of soccer. "Hopefully we get a victory there (against Wellington) and then go to Orange and get a few goals," McKinna said. If Orange is to finally see a goal in a top level game it will most likely come from the Mariners with gun shot-stopper Danny Vukovic between the posts again for Central Coast. Vukovic was a stand-out against Adelaide last year with two double saves the highlights of his stingy performance. The 22-year old is currently ranked as the fourth-best Australian goalkeeper with Vukovic named as a shadow player for the Socceroos' Asian Cup campaign which coincides with the start of the A-League pre-season competition. McKinna is expected to be without Vukovic in Orange but is happy he will have his full-strength squad available. "We actually thought he was going (to the Asian Cup). It's not so good for Danny but it's good for us," McKinna said. Tickets for the Mariners versus Queensland Roar game went on sale yesterday and can be purchased from Ticketek." Hey have i missed something or have i just mis read this artical "Former Sydney FC striker Sasho Petrovski is the biggest-name goal scorer to join although new additions like Dean Heffernan and Nathan Burns' former Adelaide team mate, Greg Owens can also beat the 'keeper." What have i missed/misread regarding NATHEN BURNS?

Nathan Burns is a 'local' boy, from Blayney, and played at Orange for Adelaide last year - so everything will be referenced to the local boy.

The Merrinator, Aubinho and I will be there, with bells on. Hope that idiot with the Scum scarf shows up again. Wade Park is in good nick at present, due to some reasonable rain of late.
It's a big day for Merrinator, with her elder daughter Stephanie having her baby shower that morning. Whilst it's very scary for me being a grandad at 39, Merry is just so excited about the idea being a (age deleted for safety reasons) Grandma.
Don't forget, the Royal Hotel is the place to meet after the game.
For those arriving early, Orange has some lovely boutique wineries dotted around the city. Anyone who is interested in this can see me at CCLC on Sunday Night for an Orange Wineries Guide.
Cheerio,
AM

Next week is looming fast, with our game at 6pm Saturday vs the yellow wantabees, Wellington Pheonix, but don't forget that on Saturday 21 July at 3pm we will be playing Queensland Roar at Wade Park, Orange:
Following some discussions last night, here are some directions:
SYDNEY-NEWCASTLE FWY Follow to end Turn left onto Pennant Hills Road Turn right at M2 Tollway, at BEECROFT ContInue onto M7 Tollway, UNTIL intersection with M4 Freeway, turn onto freeway west, Continue through Blue Mountains and Lithgow to Bathurst Turn left at MID WESTERN HWY, BATHURST At the ROUNDABOUT at top of hill - take the 3rd exit onto MITCHELL HWY, BATHURST to Orange After crossing the railway line in ORANGE, turn left next street past Conobalas Hotel. Wade Oval is a couple of blocks up Congregate on hill at southern end.
Don't forget, the Royal Hotel is the place to meet after the game.

Don't forget, the Royal Hotel is the place to meet after the game. Conobalas Hotel before? Up to those travelling I suppose. I'll probably be queuing with Marconi girl to buy HP7. The Canobolas is across the road from the park in the main street, and diagonally across from the Royal. Sounds a good plan. For me - if I get up there in time the Art Gallery across the park may have a new travelling exhibition, and we may have a squizz at the new botanic gardens. Some may follow AM's advice and try the wineries on the way in. To each their own.

Cheers Chris, Now to organise an etag so I don't need to stop for toll boths. No worries Dru, you don't find any booths on the M7 of course! There are of course alternatives - have a look at www.whereis.comThe route it comes up with across the Hills district to meet the Bells Line of Road is one someone may need to comment on. Going to Lithgow via BLOR is not one that is recommended by AM if the weather is other than fine and dry!

Ringing up to pay the M7 one is a pain and since it is a mariners game I somehow don't think it will be likely to be fine. Is a good point about the M7 for those who don't use it it is cashless and will require those without an etag to ring up and pay either before or within 48hrs of using it. With the tunnel now being cashless it will come in handy for away games to the blingers.

You can get a 30day pass for the M7, I think you can put 5 cars on the one pass, the only downside is it charges an extra $0.75 per trip as a vehicle matching fee.
