i know this may seem off topic but it turns out that the GWH between lithgow and bathurst is closed and that parts of the mitchell highway between bathurst and orange are closed, both due to snow, frost and black ice cover. if this remains the case are there any alternative ways of getting to orange? also how do i drive in those conditions safely and how do i recognise ice cover?

Go via hunter valley, wellington then down to orange. will only take you about 7 hours from the gosford. slow, steady and no sudden changes of direction, I have watch my father spin a 4wd 720 degrees doing 20km/hr whilst turning into a car park in thredbo when he hit black ice. Basically if the road is closed don't drive it, otherwise it's normal country driving with lights on low beam, concentrate on the road and take your time. frost and snow are just like when it's raining slow down and you should be fine. black ice is the fun one cause you won't see it.

Will the royal be showing the soccerroos game? Yes!! "18 July 2007 Central West Daily Mariners won’t lack heart THE Central Coast Mariners will not lack dedication in Saturday's A-League pre-season cup match with Queensland Roar if the players subscribe to Football Manager Lawrie McKinna's philosophy on winning. While some A-League coaches will opt to use the pre-season competition to iron out kinks in preparation for the season proper, McKinna wants results and he wants them early. His philosophy is that victories create a winning culture, and as such, he wants to see his side win every time they step on to the field, including trials and pre-season cup games. The next time the Mariners will step on to the field is Saturday at Wade Park against Queensland Roar and McKinna is keen to notch another win which will help them reach the pre-season final for the third straight year. Central Coast won the inaugural pre-season competition in 2005 with a win over Perth Glory before losing to Adelaide United last year in a penalty shoot-out. "We would love to get another win, it's another trophy, it's another final. We will be going out to do our best and hopefully do one better than last year," McKinna told the Mariners website. "Some people say they don't care about the pre-season cup and obviously we will be using it as preparation for the Hyundai A-League 2007-08 season, but anything you play in you want to win. "You want to win every game, it's a lot better at training when you when you win a game. The next week is great, you feel like you have no problems in the world."

Massimo Makes Up For Lost Time Jon Ritson - Central West Daily Jul 18 2007 15:52
Massimo Murdocca is on a mission to repay Queensland Roar’s show of faith and insists he's never felt fitter as he bids to banish last season’s agonies. Having been an ever-present in the Brisbane club’s inaugural A-League campaign, the 22-year-old saw his second year shattered by injury.
The former Australian U20 international was going well until a training session ended in painful fashion. Tests showed the midfielder had ruptured a ligament in his foot and he was immediately encased in plaster. He said: “It was about the worst thing I could have done really. I couldn’t do anything for a month and it was very, very frustrating sitting there with the plaster on.
“It was all the more annoying because things had been going well and I was happy with my form. “Then there was the fact that I was out of contract at the end of the season. It really was the worst time.”
After a long road back to fitness, Murdocca was able to pull on his boots again to feature in the final couple of matches, with Roar pipped to a finals spot by the narrowest of margins by Sydney FC.
Still, he was clearly viewed as part of coach Frank Farina’s future plans as a two-year deal was offered and duly accepted.
He said: “It was great to get the two years. Not too many players are on long deals in this league but then I think that means that every match, every performance matters."
"Players are always hungry to impress and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. No-one can just get into the comfort zone.”
Murdocca has been happy with his pre-season form and is now looking forward to the next challenge, the weekend Pre-Season Cup clash with Central Coast Mariners.
He said: “The club showed faith in me with the contract so, yes, I guess you could say it’s about repaying that faith. But I think I also owe it myself to have a good season.
“I can honestly say I’ve never felt fitter and my body fat count has never been lower. I’m feeling really good and looking forward to the games.”
Murdocca’s committed style has won him plenty of friends but he sees another member of the Roar engine room picking up the plaudits as season three unfolds. Danny Tiatto’s arrival at Suncorp Stadium has delighted Murdocca and he is already enjoying working with him.
He said: “What can you say? The guy is just class, simple as that. He’s quick, sharp and all the decisions he makes out there are spot on. He’s got great experience and I’ve the utmost respect for him.”
Murdocca, Tiatto and company take on the Central Coast Mariners at Wade Park, Orange on July 21 (kick off 3pm).
