Hey all, sorry about the call, some preparation a night's sleep beforehand would have had me up to Simon Hill's standard in no time. Thanks for the email bakery... It was a really good game with chances at both end's like every time we play them! Queensland may have sounded to be missing a player because they played over their midfield to Reinaldo most of the time. Tommy's shot hit the right hand post a foot down from the crossbar from 25 yards out to the left of the goals. Things are looking good

The lads played fairly well, and were a little unlucky not to score in the last few minutes.
Weather very good, considering the Arctic temperatures experienced on Australia's High Veld earlier in the week.
Crowd, 3531, was only fair, with the grandstand only 2/3 full. This may lead to this game going to Dubbo next year.
Many thanks to our hosts at the Royal Hotel, who not only arranged a room to watch the game in Hanoi but also put on some FREE cheese and bikkies AND a lovely fruit platter. Marconi Girl and Sugerfreak reliably inform me that the cheese was pretty good.
We all had a top night at the Royal (bogan count was massive), pity about the Hanoi result.
Eggba, the next time Australia play NZ in any sport, it might be best for you to NOT support the shaggers quite so vocally. They are, after all, Australians that can't swim!!!
Thanks all for a great weekend up at home.

Crowd, 3531, was only fair, with the grandstand only 2/3 full. This may lead to this game going to Dubbo next year. Considering the crowd in Adelaide was not much bigger in a city of 1.3m, I wouldn't be too hard on the apple city. Note local hero Nathan Burns was not there this time. If they want to move it, take it to Bathurst and Carrington Oval. Bogan count in Dubbo is way too high! A big thanks on behalf of all Mariners fans to you AM, and others, for another great trip. Some photos and game report through www.marinators.net, here: www.marinators.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=295&Itemid=40PS. -3C and wall to wall white when we left at 6:50am this morning!

Can someone please explain the bonus points system. I checked the table now and Wellington Phoenix is tied with us on 5 points. CCM 1w 1d, Wellington 1w 1loss so are bonus points given for every goal scored over two? ?

Yes - it goes like this: Normal 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 for a win, AND in addition: 1 bonus point if team scores 2 goals, 2 bonus points if team scores 3 goals, 3 bonus points if team scores 4 or more goals. This adds on regardless if the team wins/losses. So if 2 teams drew 4-4, then 1(draw) + 3(bonus) = 4 points.
Not the best of ideas methinks.

23 July 2007 - Central West Daily Close rivalry maintained By BEN DREWE CENTRAL Coast Mariners and Queensland Roar continued their history of playing out stalemates with a 1-all draw on Saturday at Wade Park in the second round of the A-League pre-season cup.
The two sides have now built a remarkable record of seven draws from their nine encounters to date.
Both coaches were content to claim a point from the game but Mariners drop to second place in Group B on five points while the Roar is in third after Wellington scored a 3-nil win over Sydney FC.
"Overall there are no injuries, we've got a point and we played some nice stuff at times as Queensland did," Mariners football manager Lawrie McKinna said. "Overall I'm reasonably happy coming away with a draw."
Roar boss Frank Farina agreed.
"We most probably needed to win more than they did but both sides kept going forward which is always good to see but unfortunately we couldn't get the second," he said.
"It was a bit of a dog-fight, a bit of an arm wrestle and that's probably a fair result."
Mariners defender Nigel Boogaard became the first top-flight goal scorer at Wade Park in the fifth minute when he leaped near the Roar six-yard box to get his head on the end of a Dean Heffernan free kick.
Boogaard guided the cross past Roar 'keeper Liam Reddy just inside the right-hand goal post to give the Mariners the perfect start in the game played in front of 3,531 spectators.
Chances were hard to come by in the first half and Mariners striker Sasho Petrovski had a rare opportunity in the 22nd when he forced a good save from Reddy.
Queensland was muscling up at the back so McKinna used half time as an opportunity to bring Nik Mrdja on for striker Adam Kwasnik.
The move nearly paid dividends six minutes after the break when an acrobatic save from the Roar custodian thwarted Mrdja's powerful attempt at a second goal.
Nine minutes later, a howler from young Mariners ‘keeper Matthew Trott gifted Queensland the equaliser.
His attempted boot up field was mishit and fell right to Roar striker Reinaldo who unselfishly drew the only Mariners defender before passing to Simon Lynch to tie up the contest.
Both teams pressed for the go-ahead goal with Trott redeeming himself in the 71st minute when he tackled Ante Milicic just outside his box with a conventional field player tackle.
But it was Mariners midfielder Tom Pondeljak who came closest to scoring the winner when he cracked a thunderbolt 10 minutes from full- time that crashed in to Reddy's left-hand post.
"Tom Pondeljak's shot, that would have been the goal of the season if that had of went in," McKinna said.
The score remained the same but both the Mariners and Roar created chances in the later part of the game. Central Coast now faces Sydney FC in Canberra in their last group match while Queensland plays Wellington Phoenix.
CENTRAL COAST MARINERS 1 (Nigel Boogaard ‘5) drew with QUEENSLAND ROAR 1 (Simon Lynch ‘60)
