From the last post on their thread - Brad's obviously a Villa fan.

They said it was our senior team. Was not! Not exactly; they did recognise that it contained "some" senior players. How many "senior" players were there - four? 4 that i can think of, and probably 3 of them would have been considered young'uns just 12 months ago. The average age would still be fairly low, i think. If any of the Villa fans read the Mariners' story, they'll see that it was considered our junior squad, or at least probably the most junior we have available at this early stage.

I got some photos but my problem is that I'm too busy cheering to take photos, even forgot to get picture of medals close up. Can't do everything! Cheering loudly and waving our colours is more important than pics but I do have some. When worked out system will try & put them on. I'm sure the players will be showing them off for a while. "Oh that? It's just from some tournament I played in where we BEAT ARSENAL"

The average age of our squad would have been about 20-21. Older than Villa's certainly which would have been down in the teens.
The Villa coaches were apparently asking on the availability of Matt Simons after his form...he isn't even our player at this stage!

Just because a player goes OK at a sevens tournament where there is more room and time on the ball than they will ever have in a A league game does not mean the Mariners should go out and sign every player that went to the tournament!
If all these players "6 of them" are so good how come the Central Coast Lightning doesn't smash all the oposing teams in their competition?
Reality check please!!!!!!!!!

Apparently Simon wa spalying well in that match against Malaysia as well, and has paled well with the lightning prior to the hong kong 7's match. And she did say that they played 'awesomely', not 'OK.'.. I do argee that it's not quite the same thing, but it is still football and simon has impressed in other games as well.

Wouldnt there be less time and room on the ball because its 3/4 field and only 10 min halves meaning you would have to score and build-up the play quicker???

As far as i know it was on a normal sythetic pitch with 14 players instead of 22. More space and more time on the ball obviously. Which would obviously suit some of the Lightning players greatly.

Mortez, I didn't see you there!!!!
& no there was not a lot of room to move because the pitch is sized appropriately for the smaller side.
Also motivation is a great thing when you are given the opportunities. Simon took the chance given him by the Mariners and shone on the pitch. Unfortunately, you may be looking with old eyes and narrow opinions.
An old saying "Never miss an opportunity".
I am not prepared to put forward other opinions about current players here other than what I have said & perhaps Mortezas if you where there you would not be speaking through the top of your hat.
