Whoo hooo! Everybody is so happy and gay about this news I feel like skipping up Oxford Street in a Mariners jersey.. "Where's ya striker gone (where's ya striker gone) Where's ya money gone (where's ya money gone) Where's ya investor gone (where's ya investor gone) Up the Free-way, Up the Free-way!" Just watch out for Julian, or perhaps not! I've said too much already! JF is residing in melbourne these days

And from the Mariners website:
Turnbull investment secures Mariners future
The future of the Hyundai A-League on the Central Coast was secured today, following a landmark financial investment in the Central Coast Mariners by property developer Peter Turnbull.
Mr. Turnbull’s investment – the first multi-million dollar injection into the Mariners since their inception in 2004, has ensured strong stability for the club and will ensure that it can now build on its existing firm foundation and exciting vision to become the centre of excellence for football in Australia.
Founder of Turnbull Group Developments – a property development and investment firm that has turned over in excess of $150 million in the past six years, Mr. Turnbull has been a key figure in the recent renaissance of Australian football.
Mr. Turnbull was a founding Hyundai A-League investor with Sydney FC, and has been active in his support of the Johnny Warren Foundation and pathways for indigenous footballers around Australia.
Few have been more proactive in promoting football as a mainstream Australian professional sport than Mr. Turnbull, whose shared vision to develop a local, state, national and global strategy to showcase the Mariners brand was integral to securing the landmark investment.
"Today is red-letter day for the Central Coast and the Central Coast Mariners," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.
"For someone with Peter’s unique skill set, contacts and football passion to choose to partner with our club’s ambitions, values and beliefs is a tremendous endorsement and value add for the Mariners, the Central Coast region and the Hyundai A-League in general.
"Peter has outlined that his affinity with our involvement with the grass-roots football community, our ambition to become the centre of excellence for football in Australia, and our focus on youth development through the unique pathways that exist for aspirant footballers on the Central Coast and surrounding regions as some key attractions in his decision to invest in the Mariners.
"We’re understandably delighted that he has so readily identified with our vision and we can now look forward an exceptionally bright future for the Central Coast Mariners. I can think of no better person to partner with than Peter as we strive to reach the great heights to which we aspire as a club."
The Mariners’ unique youth development and talent identification initiative for aspirant footballers was a particularly telling factor in securing Mr. Turnbull’s investment.
Unlike any other Hyundai A-League club, the Mariners have established a straight-line pathway for local players aiming to represent their local team at a national level.
From their local clubs, players are able to advance through to the Mariners’ Youth Academy, where they will be guided by Mariners players and coaching staff before progressing to Central Coast Lightning, the Mariners’ official feeder club in the NSW Winter Super League.
Mr. Turnbull frequented the Central Coast throughout his youth and his family owned a holiday house at Chittaway Point, and is also linked to the Central Coast through his sister Carolyn, who lives at Terrigal with his brother-in law Greg Dickinson who is the Principal of Terrigal High School and his parents who are in the process of moving into the area.
Mr. Turnbull’s family have been involved in football for generations. He and his brother Doug played Federation football in Bankstown, as well as being involved in senior coaching for many years, while his father was also an excellent rep player and Football Manager in his youth.
"I have found a complete synergy with the Mariners in terms of the club’s management, its forward thinking vision and its approach to talent identification and youth development through their Youth Academy and their involvement at a grass-roots community levels," said Mr. Turnbull.
"Football is already the largest sport in Australia – we’ve never needed to convert people, just convince our own and this is being done every day by the Mariners.
"On the field, the Mariners must be able to compete not only against the likes of the Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United, but also be ready for the introduction of new teams from around Australia. To succeed, the already outstanding foundation of the club must be strengthened, and I’m proud to be involved in doing that.
"There are exciting times ahead as we move into the next stage of making the Mariners the centre of excellence for football in Australia."

Was thinking the same thing. Remembering back to when the club was launched/ looking for investors they were trying to get local business people behind the club and keep it locally owned, May be trying to keep that image.
Good for the club, just hope we keep him longer than Sydney did.

When he announced he was selling his stake in Sydney FC, the reporter linked him with a Western Sydney effort when the exclusion clause in the ALeague expires (2010?).

what of singo? forgive my cynicism, but his involvement was always more about the stadium than the mariners. that's why he's been at the forefront of pushes for CC-based NRL clubs and the central coast rays ARC entry.
this isn't to suggest that singo has been anything but terrific for our club, but will turnbull stepping in and taking a more prime role signal a slight retreat from singo? will the club's and singo's interests diverge at all insofar as what they want with fixturing, ground operations and facilities?
ideally, it will give singo a freer hand to invest in the ground in such a way as to boost attendances and gameday revenue - more cover (even a half roof over the northern end would do wonders for comfort and acoustics), better facilities (i'm thinking mobile bars on the northern concourse ;D ) and better homes for merchandise sales etc.
