Having been through all the negatives, wasn't it nice to see one of our strikers beat the keeper in a one on one. Last week sasho, this week matty Simon. Keep it coming.

Keep it coming. how good was kwassy's header that hit the woodwork it came behind him yet he was able to twist back and get so much power on it - too much mrdja's header was all class as well

I bet everybody still stood there and said 'effing Kwassie'....lol
I couldn't make the game, but by all reports it sounds that like last season, our defence was a massive weak link. Well, here's hoping that round 1 will be a little tighter...

Mick, did you think Mrdja was offside? I thought it was close but ok. Mind you I immediately looked to the linesman and saw the flag, so I must have had doubt at the time. . i don't hink it is all bad, but was seriously disappointed
. all 6 goals in the last two weeks have been soft, there is something strangly comforting about conceeding a blinder but disconcerting about conceeding 6 soft goals in two games - our defensive record has always been pretty strong
. the good thing is we are still scoring goals (although clearly not enough) this was our biggest issue last year. if you consider nick's goal and kwassy hitting the bar it is similar to last week where we hit the bar/post i think 3 times plus a couple of one-on-one misses we are doing ok
. the weaker (by number) opposition is a worry and always has been. constantly in the second half we had 6 guys in the offensive line, six! no wonder the poor bastard with the ball had nowhere to go but back - everytime a pass was made to someone up front a defender would step out of the line with a huge grin. they are not the sort of angles we need to be playing
. it all comes down to expecting to score and everybody wants to do it which is why they all rush forward - just play the game properly and let it happen. by the time seo was sent off the guys around me were suggesting 9 were still too many & i have to agree the way we were playing but we may have been better off if they had both been allowed to play on, at least then we would have been forced to hold some sort of structure

. i wasn't looking where nick was when the cross was made but because it came from so close to the goal line i was probably taking it for granted that he was behind the ball
. so therefore i was carrying on like a lunatic when i would normally be the first to notice the flag
. i would like to see it again

I dont think its all that bad either, but lets face it... we lost to nine men, at home, when we scored first.! QLD will have a good mental advantage for the next game against. Good to mention the positives, but lessons have to be learnt in Pre season, I just hope they have. If our stadium is going to be the place that other clubs fear to come, we need to stop putting in this kind of performance.

Got there a bit late yesterday, heard the roar (sorry) go up for Matty Simon's goal and said to my son, "this'll be bullshit if we lose 2 or 3-1" AAARRRGGGHHH!!! A rant... I am concerned. Before last week I thought we had the squad to win the V.3 Last week I thought Laurie's 'excuse' - "we were going to have a flat one 'cause we've been training hard and preparing for Aug 24" - was a bit lame. Surely a chance at a (? never to be repeated, anyware) hosting a 3rd consecutive PSC Final +/- more (and only 2nd piece of) silverware, was enough to play for in front of a home crowd. And fitting in with Laurie's stated philosophy of every game is worth winning. Still, last week we played heaps better than yesterday's twaddle. You'd think after falling at the semi-final hurdle, yesterday (again in front of a commited home crowd) there would be plenty of incentive to get the momentum back on track. I thought there was plenty of competition for starting spots now. The small crowd was fortunate. Nobody should have seen that. It should have been played behind closed doors And when will we learn to gain from a numerical advantage when presented? Please, please CCMFC - FIRE UP. Prove this wrong on Friday week.

Yellowcake asked when will we learn to gain from a numerical advantage when presented?
Maybe they need to practice it. I spent three weeks in Rio at a seminar with Prof Julio Leal as the head coach. Prof Julio Leal is current coach of Flamengo and formerly Brazil U/20 coach who won the youth world cup in 1993 in Sydney. During one practice session the teams had been playing for about 55 minutes. He pulled two players from the reserve team and gave the scenario to his top team that there was 20 minutes remaining and the score was 1-0 to the reserve team. He then spent five minutes explaining what formation he wanted his team to play and let them loose. Most attacks came from quick change to the flanks and getting behind the defence. They opened up the defence and ran them ragged. I have always believed in the credo . . . what you do on the practice pitch you will do on the field. If you dont practice it . . . you cant do it.

.....like watching the Socceroo's against Iraq all over again....... Also reminded me of Melbourne last season - the 3-3 they salvaged against all odds; the ominous feeling when you're about to get munsoned despite an early "numerical advantage"

was perfectly in line with mrdja. he was offside, just. so, as usual, the ref and assistant copped a shitload of abuse for being right? Let's face it..he was in the best position to see (as they usually are, and the spectators ain't) Oh, for an educated crowd....!

Yes, cos a home crowd should really just sit back and say "that was a great decision that cost us a goal". Or better still, they should yell out "GREAT DECISION MATE, NO REALLY, YOU GOT IT SPOT ON THERE, SERIOUSLY"

I read (can't remember where) a study over the last few decades of football about % of free kicks, penalties awarded to the home team taking into account the size of the crowd. It revealed that crowd jeers do actually have an influence in the long term. Oh, for a sterile crowd...?
