I read (can't remember where) a study over the last few decades of football about % of free kicks, penalties awarded to the home team taking into account the size of the crowd.
It revealed that crowd jeers do actually have an influence in the long term.
Oh, for a sterile crowd...?
Could well believe it, mate.....grew up in Scotland supporting a team that wasn't one of the old firm. Could count on one hand the number of times marginal decisions went my teams way and not the way of the great unwashed Glaswegians.
