So im confused are the internationals coming back or not?? Yes, if they return injury-free. I was hoping to get a stat back to throw at him Here's one for you. 3,750,00 (apporx. Melbounre Population) divided by 27,728 (Melbournes regular season crowd average) = 135 316,000 (approx Central Coast population) divided by 9,828 (our average) = 32 So on average last year, 1 in 32 people from the Central Coast turned up to games. However only 1 in 135 Tards attended Victory games.

Add to that statistic our public transport - if it can even be called that, especially for the Sunday games.

Just read this in Half-Time Orange for those that aren't pumped enough for this Sunday although he mainly bags Perth. I wonder if he knows how small the central coast is compared to the capital cities. "Posted by St Pauli - St Kilda on Mon 10 Sep 07 at 06:17pm: Interesting Jesse. But after having seen Melbourne v Glory last week, and Perth notching up their third scoreless draw… here’s my suggestion for a topic: With the A-League trying to introducing exciting football to get people to the games, should we consider a penalty for teams that play out a nil-all draw. While Perth would be delighted with their unbeaten start, one has to question what they’re bringing to the game. Both Perth and Central Coast (arguably the most negative teams) have the lowest crowds in the league, and one has to ask whether the football, and lack of adventurous play has anything to do with it. It’s still a mystery to me that Perth can go from being the shining light of the NSL to little more than a shambles in the A-League. I know you can still have a great scoreless game, but early signs seem to suggest the teams with a negative mentality are the ones reaping the rewards on the pitch, while the fans suffer. It might sound like sacrilege, but what about offering half a point extra to teams who score two or more goals? Or only giving half a point to teams in a scoreless draw? The ideas might seem drastic, but let’s think outside the square if it means getting more people to the games. Because even with my membership I might have something else planned the next time Perth Glory come to town." it's a comment on the blog, not a blog post. it's some whinger spouting off. whoopty-do, and how's the weather down there are my two responses.

EDIT - i get the irony of a total stats nerd saying stats are shit too...

Add to those stats that the nearest clubs are Adelaide in one direction and Sydney in the other, so there's plenty more than just the population of melbourne for them to draw on.

It's not the crowds thing that irritates me it's the "negative football" thing that annoys me, OK Thursday was gritty and the Mariners held in but it got the job done. But Wellington wasn't negative football, and the first half against Sydney wasn't either, 5 goals, 3 games, yea that's negative football.

We have NEVER played negative Football. Against QLD our midfield was swamped but we never camped in our own half.

Funny how only 2 teams have a POSITIVE goal difference. Where does positive/negative come into the basic rules? CCM have picked up from somewhere that the object of the game is to score more goals than the other team.

I can understand where the gaffa comes from with being frustrated at the way CCMFC is veiwed around the country...
They can all get stuffed, Where is your youth development? Where are you on the table? Whats your Goal difference at the moment?? How manny Mariners palyers are currently wearing the green and gold? How many coaches you had? Does your club show any real loyalty to its staff and players?
CCMFC have gone a long way futher than other clubs to etablish themselves for the future, as a club, not just a Team.
And melbourne fans, talk anout negative footbal, thats what happens everytime Muscat walks onto a feild? Neagtive foootball my arse...
How do you get on top of a table, with a positive goal difference, by playing negative football? Please explain??
Shits me!!

George Graham did a good job at Arsenal ;D I agree thou, people don't give us enough credit. The a-league stats page shows we have 2 players in the top 5 for goals scored, 2 players in top 5 for assists (granted 1 each), and 1 player in the top 5 for attempt on target..................which I might rub into a few people that that person is ADAM KWASNIK! (Mrdja has had more attempts than him off target too does that mean we start abusing him )

I feel that we will beat Melbourne this week and am predicting a 2.1 win with both strikers getting on the scoresheet.
My team would be:
Danny Osman Heffernan Vidmar Boogs (these two players read the game very well and this will overcome any perceived lack of pace against Allsop and Archie)
Tommy Gumpey Jedi Hutcho
Sasho Nik

i couldn't drop kwas. he's done nothing wrong, he has been very creative and finished twice from open (sorta) play in two weeks. tommy hasn't shown enough when he's got on.
tommy's a great player on his day but unless he's got flames coming off him in training he's not shown enough in the last coupla weeks to warrant dropping kwas. reputations aren't what you should select a side by, especially when you're changing a winning combination.
gumper would be closer to the edge. he hasn't been super the last few weeks, and depending on how tommy, owens and porter are travelling there might be room for a change there. but again, it's got to be justified by form and performance.

His early season stats have been more impressive than most others? Hutch has also really looked at home in that Central Midfield role which has surprised me I have to admit, has he finally found his best position? Interesting that Lawrie has tried him on the left, up front, left back and now in the middle where he's been terrific! Not sure why you would want to move him and ask him to play a different style of game on the wing? Nobody deserves to lose their spot after 9 points from 3 games.

Kwassy, like Hutch, will be one of the first picked. We are in V3. Some people still appear to be living in the past.
