We all know Tommy will come good. He just needs more than 10 - 15 minutes a game.

As much as that line up is still pretty good I really don't understand why you would drop Kwas.....what has he done wrong? His early season stats have been more impressive than most others? Hutch has also really looked at home in that Central Midfield role which has surprised me I have to admit, has he finally found his best position? Interesting that Lawrie has tried him on the left, up front, left back and now in the middle where he's been terrific! Not sure why you would want to move him and ask him to play a different style of game on the wing? Nobody deserves to lose their spot after 9 points from 3 games. . i know what you are saying but doesn't offer much incentive for those not in the starting 11 except to train harder, play well off the bench and try and force their way into the team

some interesting stats to come out of this season so far:
- we have the lowest number of completed passes with newcastle nearly 60% more (500 to 800 approx) - both muscat and brebner are in the top five for most completed passes - melbourne have the lowest number of shots on target at a really paltry 7 - we have had the most shots directed at us (on and off target) yet danny and trotty combined have made the lowest amount of saves (12) - matt osman leads the mariners on most effective tackles at 15 while mile is on 14 - we have the second lowest shots on and off target yet have equal the most goals - mile has the most amounts of fouls at 14 while muscat is second on 13 (which one of these two will get sent off?)
the melbourne stats shows how danny and archie are really misfiring this season
adz will post stats on marinators.net very soon

the melbourne stats shows how danny and archie are really misfiring this season. Especially Danny Allsopp. He's had 32 shots this year and only hit the target twice. back to season one form archie has been average as well because he has been playing injured what scares me about this weekend is that he has appeared to discover some form in that first half against the argies we don't exactly have the qucikest centre pairing and the telstra dome pitch is quite large

I think some of the stats in there are terribly wrong.

Impending stats, facts and trivia A remarkable co-incidence will take place at Telstra Dome with the captains of Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners both set to make their 450th appearance at national league level. The career of Melbourne's Kevin Muscat so far has seen him play at Australian clubs Sunshine (9 league appearances), Heidelberg (18), South Melbourne (73) and Melbourne Victory (40), English sides Crystal Palace (53), Wolverhampton (180) and Millwall (53), and Rangers (23) in Scotland. Tony Vidmar's 449 appearances to date consists of stints at Adelaide City (149 league appearances) in the old NSL, Ekeren (9) in Belgium, NAC Breda (82) in the Netherlands, Scottish giants Rangers (107), English clubs Middlesbrough (12) and Cardiff City (73) plus 17 Hyundai A-League appearances so far with Central Coast Mariners. Muscat and Vidmar are the only current Hyundai A-League players to have made more than 400 appearances at national league level.

Crazy stat - congrats Viddie indeed.
I have noticed a lack of predictions for this game...does that mean a lack of confidence around here?

people have the opprtunity to impress off the bench for their claims of a starting berth and quite frankly no one has done that yet . agree but a bit hard when generally changes have been made late in the game . players coming on have been 'attack' minded but by the time they come on the mariners are in front and 'sitting' on their lead . the last 10-15 that these guys have been on the dynamics of the game have changed - not only is it difficult to settle in but also to exert any tangible influence without disrupting the team directive at that time

. i know what you are saying but doesn't offer much incentive for those not in the starting 11 except to train harder, play well off the bench and try and force their way into the team . again i understand what you are saying, but you can't have it both ways . if they are worthy of displacing somebody in the team then you will be forced to drop somebody from a winning line-up . if nobody deserves to be dropped then you can't be promoted regardless of how well you train (refer also post above about irrelevant/short game time)

Congrats Viddie!
Some early trailblazers are already down there, I'm flying down tomorrow more following Sunday by planes and Trains so for those going FIRE UP FARKEN!
Melbourne 1- 3 Mariners. (Nik, Sasho and Kwas to get one each) (either Melbourne scores from Archie getting jack of the service and doing it all himself from halfway or a penalty after a Jedi/Boogs foul.)

I have noticed Lawrie berating Tommy for attempting 'killer balls' when we were 1-0 up. Maybe fair enough, when we are defending a lead in the dying stages we shouldn't risk possession. But that's not to say the balls haven't found their mark half of the time (think Mile one on one with Reddy at the end of Roar game).
