i can live with the card to viddie, he did take down his man... as for the result... 0-0 away to the dome is simply brilliant and we could have won - and thats without our two strikers - well down to the boys, i am extremely proud
4 rounds and still no goals scored against us!

A draw at the Telstra dome is a decent result. Although we definitely had our chances. IMO we dominated much of the match and could easily have won it.
Kwasnik was immense tonight. He would have been under a bit of pressure when Nik Mrdja got ruled out, and even more so when Sasho came off injured. He never stopped working while he was on the field and if it wasn't for the crossbar, he would have had a couple of goals to his name. I was very worried about the pace of the Melbourne attack coming into this game, but Heffernan was brilliant in his cover defence. It's been along time since I've seen us keep so much possession away from home, and its been even longer since I've seen Melbourne starved of possession like that at the Telstra Dome. 59% at half time is a remarkable statistic, that gives credit to the way we were able to hold the ball. Especially John Hutchinson IMO. Next week is going to be a big test to our depth. Tony Vidmar will be suspended and it is still unclear whether or not we will have Sasho Petrovski adn Nik Mrdja available. Petrovski's injury has been described as a sprained ankle and we will face a maximum of two weeks on the sideline according to Mike Cockerill. Nik Mrdja's injury was described as a sore knee, and he has apparently had it scanned, and has come back all clear. Fingers crossed for next Sunday.
Melbourne should have done more with their chances. Allsopp looks like a striker who has just lost all confidence. How he missed that chance inside the 6 yard box is beyond me. Carlos Hernandez was rubbish once again. He was started in a more attacking role tonight, but disappeared for long parts of the game. Kaz Patafta looks to be a better option IMO. For the amount of corners that they had, they should have done a bit better. Even though their number 1 set piece taker, Adrian Caceres, was taken off early, there was little to no variety to their corners. Every corner they had they would line up the exact same way. They would all stand around the back post and leave one or two players on the near. They would either play it long to the big group or go short for a flick-on. Besides two occasions, we were able to deal with them relatively easily.
A good result that leaves us only 2 points clear at the top. Bring on Perth!!!!

Theokl**5#5##2@@** awesome. How did they pick Bolton as second keeper? Kwassy awesome, better than three Brazillians. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Good result. Gutsy effort showed the advantage of our depth. Hopefully it will not be tested over the next few weeks. Down 2 strikers, 3 centre halves. Bugger. Great attempts by Jedi and Tommy.

Kwassie was definitely putting a lot in this match, and if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have come nearly as close to scoring. Pity he still doesn't have THAT good a shot - although pretty much every shot he had was from either a difficult angle, or quite a long way out. Danny was solid as ever. I thought that we had some serious trouble building up an attack at times tonight - we didn't seem to have much of a flow from defence, through to mids, through to forwards. We seemed to screw up a few counterattacks, and just gave the ball away way too much for no reason whatsoever. Hopefully Sasho will pull through with his injury... And that red card was bullshit, he had already lost control of the ball before he was foulled

Kwassy awesome, better than three Brazillians. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The catch-phrase of the season so far: "If that was a Brazilian, people would be losing it" It's a pity ONE went over the bar, someone might have something to rubish him about. Those attempts were very close to Bresciano's standard from the Arg game the other night IMHO.

Don't worry Floss - he didn't score with every shot, so I'm sure the Kwassie hating bandwagon will be screaming about it

Im not sure which game this turkey was watching, but i really dont think it was tonights one... www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=hal_newsdisplay&id=19295Just afew points i noticed which made me blink: Superior posession for the mariners, only chances melbourne had came from quick counter attacks, surprise surprise Ummm...again the mariners had alot more posession of the ball, tell me how on earth does one defend when they HAVE THE BALL!?

According to the A-League website, we only had 30% of the ball. I find that stat hard to believe, because we dominated for large parts of the game. At half-time the possession stat was 59-41 in favor of us. I really can't see how Melbourne had that much of the ball in the second half to turn that around so convincingly.

That stat of 30% total posession is so tragically wrong, i hope the guy who wrote it just lost a bet to a victory supporter...
Lets do some simple math to see how ridiculous that actually is:
Excluding injury time for the purpouse of simplification, Total Game Time : 90 So, 30% of 90 is 27 minutes, so a-league.com is claiming we only had the ball for 27 minutes...however In the first half alone, we had 59% posession, that was obvious visually aswell as proven by the fox sports stats, 59% of 45 is 26.55 minutes, so for a-league.coms conclusion of 30% total posession, it would mean that in the entire second half we had to have had the ball for less than 30 seconds.... I think not lol

i thought Gumprecht and Hutch were lagging tonight. maybe swap their positions around?
i said last season the reason why Allsopp/Archie got that many goals between them was the distribution they were given by Fred. how they miss him.. i thought Victorys mom was Kemp. i never rated him highly until tonight.

Nice solid away point tonight considering we had a resuffled front line... I think Kwassie continues his strong start to the season and was unlucky not to have a brace....
we worked well as a unit and were very unlucky not to nick all the 3 points.....
"Harper is prick!" couldnt agee more the fox sports Aleague commentry team are getting worse with their pro bling crap...
If Harper had a real job he would be at the dole office by now with the amount of on air f*** ups he makes... I think he called Keven Muscat Kevin Idol in the pre game show and tried to cover it up by using it as a segway into the Muscat interview f***ing amatuer hour with that prick....
Any how nice point for the boys and bring on the glory.....

Kwasnik deserved something tonight, we lose both key forwards one pre the game the other shortly into it and the lad steps up big time. He looked in his element and when near goal was relaxed enough to try the razzle which was superb to watch, even though not netting I think it is a great sign of things from him hes well on top of his game and will be immense over the coming weeks.
I thought Gumps had one of his better games from recent weeks and Mile just keeps doing the business. Viddies challenge at the death was unfortunate but necessary in the circumstances , although if it was Allsop we could have let him go as the form hes in I think maybe the Lino might have been in danger of his shooting.
As for Harper, surely somewhere in the football media there is someone, anyone more capable of not degenerating the call into a clicheathon and a little more insight thats relevant. Its geting boring FOX!!
