Yet watch the FFA give a suspended sentence for it too. Or 1 game off, with another if he gets a card on his return. Seems to be the only punishment they have at the moment. Dirty little f*cker!!

But, going by the FFA rules, shouldn't he now escape their scrutiny because it was dealt with on the field by the Referee at the time with a Yellow Card. After watching it again on Fox i can't believe he only recieved a yellow for it, anything like that should be a early shower.

I haven't seen the replay myself, but the assistant ref should appeal - there must be a way to site a ref for dealing with something inadequately, even if it was technically "dealt with" at the time.

Sorry, meant to say he would get off with no penalty. Was thinking ahead to what I was about to type. But you would think this may make them change the rules. You just cannot touch an official, it has to be worth more than a yellow card.

Game highlights are on Fox Sports. Danny's a lucky boy. Seemed to me he made contact with his legs first. Strange thing is if the ref didn't think it was a foul, surely Griffiths should have got a second yellow for diving.

I still don't understand how the referee decided that it was only a yellow card. There is never an excuse for a player to do that. I really hope that the FFA make an example out of him as well, because we all know how shit the Scum are without him.

A red card is too soft for that sort of thing, you never, NEVER, so much as TOUCH an official let alone pull that. If the FFA don't do something what kind of thing what message does that send to the kids, guess it's OK to punch Breezy in the balls, it's only a yellow.

It just goes to show how the reputation of Griffiths is a major disadvantage to him. For Griffiths to receive a free-kick these days, referees need to have absolutely no doubt about it. Anything under six weeks is a disgraceful decision IMO.

Credit to the one guy on the Newcastle forum who is actually agreeing that the FFA should make an example of him, 5 to 10 weeks, seriously and that's lenient, especially given Stan got 12 months.

especially given Stan got 12 months. Plus, Fred was given three weeks last season for elbowing Mark Milligan. Surely a punch to an Assistant Referee is a lot lot worse!

I'm tipping the incident will be ignored. After the monkey saga, they won't want to be seen as picking on Con's kiddies.

A bizarre decision from what I thought was one of the better refereeing performances. Just saw the punch on Fox sports news, absolute disgrace. How he got away with it I'll never know - but he's damn lucky, because he would've (well, you'd hope) been out for a very long time. They've really let down a LOT of people by allowing him to get away with this... I daresay it would've come down to what the AR told Breeze though, as I don't think Breeze saw it. Haha, listen to GVE:- "I'm sure he accidentally bumped the official. I'm positive there was no intention" Christ I hope he's being sarcastic As for Danny's tackle - he got the ball, pushed it out to the side, and I think that was a fair challenge. Still lucky, it would've been easy for the ref to miss the touch, but he wouldn't have been sent off for it. Anyway, it isn't a matter of the incident being ignored. The FFA simply can't act if the ref's already made his decision, as "The referee's decision regarding facts of play is final". I don't think there's any way around that. Tragic, as he should be out for a VERY long time.

I am sure the FFA will bottle it - thats what they are good at.
Seeing the incident with Danny, there was contact and Danny didnt seem to get the ball. Oh well, give a C*nt a bad name eh?

I think this thing about the referee "dealing" with it can be gotten around in this sort of thing, the AR, CCMFC (and maybe other clubs) can appeal, if the FFA is smart they won't care what they're "supposed" to do with this and actually make an example of him, because if you can get away with a yellow card for that I'd be seriously worried about refereeing any game any time soon.
