nope - they're on the fence line. you could take them out and build a half-depth stand, but that's about it. OR turn that section of the road into a tunnel given it's coming off a bridge, that's gonna be harder than it sounds.

there is about 8 metres of space behind the northern goals. about the same behind the southern. pull the goals more towards the fence ala English stadia re: proximity of net to crowd, and there you go. you have enough room to replicate the northern stand on the southern side. now getting the cash and DA approval would take yonks.

[/practical mode] f*** the rugger buggers - i'm totally down with pulling down the gaps so we're right on the by lines. pull the gap behind each goal down to about 6.5m and you can do a full depth stand but no concourse behind it.

well if you add the space freed when the palm trees are removed. there is an abundance of room for the stand and the safety buffer for fugby league players.
that or we could put big signs up saying "WRONG WAY TURN BACK"

No one's going to agree to sacrifice the water view - it's known as the most picturesque stadium in Australia for that reason

Why go to all that trouble just so the away fans can stand behind goals too? Stick them up that end but on the eastern side, so they have the afternoon sun blasting straight in their eyes - like the shit seats we have to sit in at Newcastle.

People are missing the point. Moving away supporters away from the Marinators isn't what this is about.
It's about moving them away from the home supporters - particularly the people who sit on GA. The GA in Bluetongue is full of knobs...they are the cheapest tickets, there are less families ie more blokes with no inhibitions, generally pissheads who care less about the games/club. Think about the amount of rugby yobbos who have been kicked out of Bay 16 this season who are there just to get attention from the Marinators.
When away fans come, these idiots' attention turns towards them.
It's not Marinators vs Squadron or Marinators vs Cove that is the problem!
The problem comes when all those away supporters are forced to leave in a congested concourse, shoulder to shoulder with said home fans, including some of the Marinators who are also alcohol fuelled and without families to be fair, after a passionate derby. Things are going to be said, people aren't going to take a backwards step and things can escalate. Add in the f***ing stupidity of an element of Newcastle or Melbourne fans and bad things are much more likely.
I don't like when people get back to the Richard Noone 'Fight Talk' days because there is STILL no evidence that supporter groups have or want to clash. There IS evidence on the contrary in fact.
But there is a definite need for them to be moved down to the far corner of the stadium, to avoid stupid situations like the concourse exit where we're absolutely begging for shit to start! This will also massively help atmosphere on derbies. More importantly (and whether they are moved or not), they need to be properly monitored inside the stadium and then followed, even by 2 or 3 cops, to the station. It's not about riot police, or dividing lines of security, or mass segregation. It's just about the small numbers of law enforcement who ARE there doing their job and keeping the small minority of troublemakers in check.
I think with the Sydney controversies, and Griffo, everyone has got a little excited and blown this out of proportion a little. There isn't mass fighting or hooliganism! It's just about using a bit of common sense to get control of things BEFORE something untoward goes down.

That's the biggest turnout the squadron's had yet, isn't it timmy? Hey, somebody had to say it.... Yes mate it is. Im not ashamed by you saying it. We have had poor away support in the past but it is growing, which is great to see.

There isn't mass fighting or hooliganism! It's just about using a bit of common sense to get control of things BEFORE something untoward goes down. You are right. However I witnessed the worst behaviour from supporters last weekend since the bad old NSL days at Edensor Park, home of the Croats. In the last Sydney Croatia v Breakers match I attended a very preganant Mrs Boogaard was threatened with physical violence, and knives were brandished. I wonder if it was little Nigel in Mum's tum at the time! Back topic - Common sense is not a language some Jest supporters would understand. So lets's hope the Jest Club and the more responsible Squadrunts act to eradicate this pox on 'new football'.

i think they may need to chop the palm trees down and put something there or get Singo to build a stand over the road lol It was announced in the SUN today that John Della Bugger has announced a $250,000 grant toward the cost of a new video screen to be erected at Bluetongue. Will it be included in a general facility overhaul or will it stand alone at the southern end amongst the palm trees
