Didn't see him dicking about, but did see him running (quite comfortably) from behind the GA area in the direction of the west stand just after Porter got sent off, with a beer in his hand And did anyone else notice the very sad sight of Ossie limping his way around the ground at one point? Looked like he was struggling to even walk Yeah I saw Osman walking around the inside of the ground, you pointed that out to me. Says a lot about the guy that he actually shows his face and tries to walk around a bit - has he had his surgery yet? Would have been much easier on him if he had stayed home with his leg up in the air. Good on you Matt Osman! As for what has been said above about Mrdja, if what is said is ringing so true about his attitude, then I'd rip up his contract now. If he can dance, if he can run to check out the action and have a drink, then he was good enough last night to get out there for 10 -15 minutes and lurk around up front. The team needed his presence up front badly.

I'll probably get shot for this - but has anyone considered that him running around like that before the game was actually is him training with the knee and not taunting us with his laziness? Dancing about for a bit and a light jog with a beer in hand are slightly different to start/stop running for 90 min.

Very true. I think people are just looking for targets at the moment. Mrdja is frustrating us, so he's making a convenient target.
*hides behind Chimmi*
You know, I reckon we really missed Kwassie last night too.....he always gets in and has a go, puts in 100%. I reckon he could've linked up with Heff brilliantly last night.
Sure, there is the possibility that he kept passing the ball straight to Qld just like everybody else (the number of balls we give away, particularly in mid field, for no reason whatsoever has been haunting us all season...), but if he was going to have a good night he would've carved up. And his long range shots just might've challenged Reddy a bit more than these other shots that were taken, especially with Simon actually chasing every shot in to the keeper.
On a side note, I can't help but wonder if Simon actually got foulled when he nearly scored. I thought that as he was stepping over the Qld player the Qld player got up, which is why he got taken out. Could've gone either way, so we may have been a bit unlucky there.

4. De-list Mrdja now and get a new striker. Seriously, Mrdja's attitude is beyond sickening (we all saw him dicking around in the warm up - sore knee my arse) and we all know he want play for us again. Why waste time hoping for something that's not going to happen?? Suuuuuuuuuuuurely there's got to be some strikers out there who are good enough for the A-League and who would want to play for us. _SURELY_?!? Didn't see him dicking about, but did see him running (quite comfortably) from behind the GA area in the direction of the west stand just after Porter got sent off, with a beer in his hand And did anyone else notice the very sad sight of Ossie limping his way around the ground at one point? Looked like he was struggling to even walk Lucky he was'nt in front of me at the beer line

I just hope Kwas is ok. If I was Mrdja I will be getting an refund on the treatment stuff for my knee. However, it could a case that the guy needs an good kick up the bum

Mrdja is one issue the club has, the injuries to Browny and Kwassi another.
Kwassi has been for the last two seasons providing great crosses and runs.
In HAL v2, those crosses weren't finished off well enough with the people we had upfront.
There's more danger upfront this season with Sasho there, even if Nik is off the field.
But with Kwassi injured can we get someone who can make the runs, and crosses, as effectively - and as often throughout a full 90?

Well, surprise surprise everybody...refereeing decisions can go against you at any level. Some decisions are justified and others are not. The send off took the wind out of our sails but the mature and disciplined team can pick itself up, maintain its structure and fight back by playing football. CCM have always been good at that. Last night it took the half time break to bring the Mariners back on track. Some of the older heads such as Gumprecht were visible trying to remotivate the team in a positive way before then but it was a struggle for them. Positive energy from the crowd can also help - focus on the positive, not the negative... Another thing to remember is that we were down after only a few minutes. And the refereeing had nothing to do with that...

The reality is that with all our players out - plus the extra two by the 18th minute, we were always going to be struggling badly. Those factors - plus the frustration causing everybody to lose focus - means that we did bloody well to only lose by one (or maybe Qld did bloody poorly to only beat us by one ) Oh well, roll on next week for (yet another - groan!) Sunday match

How do they determine the draw by the way guys, i mean was it by someones request that we got all these dreadful sunday games, our crowd averages are suffering, our support is dwindling and all in the season that we are doing so well in that given half the chance we could really take the public by the reins and get them in love with the mariners!!!

Havent posted my thoughts yet as I wanted time to calm down and reflect sensibly (unlike me I know). I left the ground furious and sick that a game had been sacrificed to one mans ego. When the ref wants to be centre stage you know he needs to be removed.
Sometimes in sport (as in life), shit happens and you have "one of those" afternoons where everything is a disaster. We had one yesterday didnt we !
I think we learnt something about our team AND our hard core support yesterday. We saw who lifted and motivated the others (Gumps, Hutcho, Jedi) and we saw a partly fit player come on and bust his balls for almost the whole game (Owens).
No one gave up, no one hid. Trotty must have been sick about the goal (as must Heff) and to recover to make a couple of good saves afterwards says a lot about a guy who has stuffed up badly in his 1st start for nearly 2 months.
Whilst in bay 15 we got somewhat sidetracked by the injustice of the day, no one was violent or stupid and I hope the boys appreciated the fantastic applause as they walked round after the game. They seemed to notice and I hope they realised that very few in the crowd blamed them. Heads lifted at the "We are top of the league" chant.
One other thought. How awful would this have been if we had been playing the scum and had a target for our anger?? Small mercies I know but.....
FARKIN FIRE UP FOR NEXT WEEK

conclusions: - O'Leary is a f**king tool - We need to sign Jedinak, Gumprecht and Simon for at least another season - We need to start Owens and Simon - With regards to Mrdja running around with beer and dancing at largo, we need to let him go

Heff is one bloke who really took it upon himself to try and make a difference...he really gave it his all in attacking his goal, and the kind of runs he made are what we expected from him, great stuff.
Is it my imagination, or has Gumps hit a bit of a slump the last couple of matches? He seems to be getting a bit frustrated out there sometimes...

There hasn't been much talk about the goal we conceded. School boy stuff and to go one down after 5 minutes is like starting the game with a handicap of 1-0 down.
Our defence has been excellent this season especially with having to reshuffle the backline evry game but bloody hell that was poor.
Can't wait to see Viddie back for the Pheonix game. We are a completey different side with his experience at the back. He's much more than a defender, he's an excellent distributor of the football and very composed on the ball.
As for Gumps, I love him to death, but I don't think he's been the same player ever since the injury in Melbourne last year. I'm not sure he'll have his contract renewed at the end of the season. Might be time for fresh blood, much like cutting SP for this season.
