That was a hard game to watch. Way too much long ball from the mariners for mine.
But thank the gods Sasho made up for that penalty.
This weekend is getting better and better!

Apologies to El Condo Pasa - Simon & Garfunkel:
I'd rather sign Aloisi than Jardel Yes I would, if I could, I surely would I'd rather be a Marinator than a Squadrunt Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would
I'd rather be top of the League than lower Yes I would, if I could, I surely would I'd rather feel Bay 16 beneath my feet Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

Good win, very frustrating watching it on ze tele.
i thought we played well and deserved the win after our lift in performance after the half time break.
Well done guys! Wellington away was going to be a hard one and we got the best result!!

Not for the first time this season, I'm feeling more relief than anything - they DID improve after the break, and create a few chances, but again was a game that could have gone either way.
Up front, I thought Simon ran his heart out, and did everything he could to get us goals.....Sasho worked hard, in places...particularly to set up Deano for the first. Still feel they need to work harder at holding the ball up and giving the midfield time to get forward in support.
Also, there were several occasions where the ball was given away in defence....a better team than Wellington will punish us for that.
Finally, any news on Clarkie's injury? Maybe too early to know?

lucky to get away with that one, to get a win was great, but the performance that we put on the park was only worth a draw at best. sasho's last goal was an absolute fluke, but i'll take a goal any way we can get it. looking at simon's performance, i think we may have found ourselves another midfielder who will be able to provide aloisi with the support he needs. i am aware simon was playing up front, but he showed glimpses of the qualities that you want from an attacking minded midfielder. let's hope all goes well next week.

IMO : the wellington goal wasnt too bad at all heff's goal was a good one sasho's goal was just gifted to him . also IMO both mariners goals were bad defensive errors

tbh I think we deserved that 1 - had some scarey moment like we usually do but I think we just shaded it, would have been very annoyed if we lost. Matty did really well - did everything except score, comes close to my MOM. I would just like to add I predicted too 2-1

TBh, if we had been 3 or 4 goals up at the end, we would have deserved it. Great 2nd half but pretty awful finishing.
They had 1 real shot all game (and scored). Other than that, Elrich looked like the overpaid, useless footballer that all his previous clubs have realised he is.
The MF trio of Jedi,Hutch and Owens were awesome and Owens will be a massive player for us. Boogs and Viddie were solid as ever and Simon ran his arse off. Good suggestion about attacking mid too.
Tommy was my No1 - workrate was immense.

Good to have Danny Back. Who will be RB next game? Kwassy did not look 100%. Athough he is playing the best football I have ever seen him ever play I wish Hutchi were more attacking. No complaints though. Future penalties to Aloisi. Anyone want to buy a slightly used striker. Could have scored enough goals to win 3 matches but will have to work on keeping possession if we want to be there a the end.

Was a frustrating game to watch, lots of hot and cold performances from the boys tonight, i think pondeljak, hutch, owens and jedinak will be hard to knock out of the midfield, although kwasnik did make a noticable impact when brought on.
Simon played well, really needs to hit the gym and some protein shakes to give himself some stability, the only way he can stand up is when he leans all his weight into another player, the nix defender figured this out and just moved back leaving simon to fall down, luckily we got a free kick out of it, but in future if simon bulked up he will be an asset, even if only from the bench.
Love owens eye for goal, never afraid to just hold on to it and have a dig where as hutch is the exact opposite, seems he is always looking for the safe pass, which i suppose isnt a bad thing as his completed passes percentage in the stats is quite impressive, tommys speed and delicate touch and turns create space out of nowhere, petrovski and aloisi will rip this league apart, i honestly believe petrovski will score buckets when he gets the attention off him with people focusing on Aloisi.
Cant wait for next weekend, we can all watch Sydney burn down there Bridges...again!
