He's a young kid, it's good that he had the foresight, and good management that told him to check things out properly before making a decision.
Good on him and welcome I say.
On another note, anyone seen the note on the squadrunts forum? It's a running word clock that says 664 days, 36 minutes and 10 seconds have passed since the mariners won a derby.
Idiots!!

I actually had a bit of a laugh at it. I reckon we should do one for them about the last time the won a cup. The only problem being, they haven't actually won anything, ever.

Get with the times Bear, this isn't the 1920's any more when players stayed with the club all their career's. we're in the 21st century now mate and whether you like it or not, it's a business. If we knew all the back room deals and exactly what was said and what wasn't, we could form a better opinion, but as far as I'm concerned he's just a young talent looking around to try and get the best 'fit' for himself and his future. Say what you like. Im going off what iv heard, from reliable sources. Dont like the guy and what he did, and thats my right as a fan If he plays and scores for us, good for him and good for the mariners, dose not mean I have to like the guy

I still stand by my comment, which was that Joel Griffiths should be reminded that he is a c*%t every second of his life. ;D

Has to prove himself to us now agreed. while i'm sure he will do his best for us, it'd be good to get some sign from him that this is where he feels he belongs. back in his home town, back to his own club, determined to take his chance. i don't begrudge him the ambition to go overseas and be a big star, but i want to see him want to make his name in mariners colours first.

Tell me more about Holland's background - he's a Central Coast junior, then?

Holland was offered a deal with us (central coast local), his agent said I can get you a better deal overseas and it didn't happen so he came back to Oz and signed a short term deal for scum........now it appears he is coming back to us? Why? Won't be a better deal I imagine?
My personal feeling is he was a scummer for joining Jets in the first place, being a central coast local and Mariners fan I don't know how anyone could sign for Newy? Opportunity of course, but Lawrie was the 1 who gave him that first.
He has a lot to do on and off the field for me to change my mind, but I am glad he's with the Mariners coz he is a player with some talent and possible great future as long as he's educated correctly.
I don't blame any kid for taking a chance, his agent is the knob in all of this IMO......

This was in The Age yesterday.
Melbourne is also believed to have shown some interest in exciting teenager James Holland, who played for Newcastle as a short-term injury replacement this season. Holland has also been linked with the Central Coast Mariners.
EDIT- Doesn't look he will go to the Scum though either.
