Maybe he read what some dick head supporters were saying about him.
Fair dinkum some of you must be kidding. 18 year old kid gets a few offers weighs up what he thinks is the best at the time and it doesn't turn out as he had hoped. So he has a re think.
So you want to sack him for life.

This was in The Age yesterday. Melbourne is also believed to have shown some interest in exciting teenager James Holland, who played for Newcastle as a short-term injury replacement this season. Holland has also been linked with the Central Coast Mariners. EDIT- Doesn't look he will go to the Scum though either. Melbourne have just signed Nick Ward which would give them 3 attacking mids being Hernandez, Vassilevski and Ward. They probably wont sign Holland as he is less assurred of game time there than at most places

I'd rather be a "dickhead supporter" than a dick head player who allows his agent to whore him about and ruin his chances of doing what young footballers need - playing time.

I'm with Bear on this one. He doesn't give a f*** who he plays for, just wants the money. f*** the scummer money is the motivating factor for most people out there and virtually 90% of all professional footballers are mercenaries. Do you seriously think Aloisi or anyone for that matter in our squad wouldve signed for us if we offered him $20,000 a year just because he loves the mariners. Of course not. As much as we hate it, it is a fact of life that signing for a club i.e. equivalent to taking on a new job for the rest of us is a business decision and large amounts of money can sway anyones loyalty

. agree with offtheball
. he is a kid, making a decision about his future and what he wants out of his career
. with limited 'life experience' you tend to take advice from those who should know, that is, your agent - that is why you have one
. how many kids of that age make mistakes they regret or don't work out with regard to career, life or love. many would also be having second thoughts if they saw some of these comments - would you want to sign if this is what the 'vocal' fans are saying about you

Did he go through the coast youth system. No. Pointless post And its got nothing to do with the fact he signed with another team, its the fact that the other team was Newcastle. If he signed with any other team, ANY TEAM, its not a problem Have you all no passion for the Mariners colours?

who seriously thinks a few forum posts would make or break a deal like this? and so quickly too? midday the deal was reported a few hours later (and a few comments) the report is taken down... and the most likely thing that has happened is he made a deal with the Mariners, read a few posts, and changed his mind?? ummmmmmmm.........

If he signed with any other team, ANY TEAM, its not a problem Have you all no passion for the Mariners colours? I used the Aloisi example to show that unless Peter and Lyall offered him a huge amount of money he would not gone with us and I said "or anyone in our squad" which includes Porter, Brown, Clark, Simon, Trott, Macca and Redders who all spent a significant part of their lives on the coast. If they got offers from the scum which were far in excess of ours, i bet they would play for them. Nothing to do with disloyalty to the coast, just supreme loyalty to the almighty dollar that everyone in this society has. It is a capitalist society and the clubs as well as player management are run as businesses and everyone is out to make a buck or two including Holland whose a young kid, who probably naive when it comes to the business side of the game and wouldve listened to his manager religiously, thinking that his manager is all powerful and all knowing. Any how I couldnt imagine his signing for newcastle being anything other than a business decision. If he has signed for us, He will need to prove himself and a hattrick against the scum would be good from him

I agree its not like he is going to make a deal with the mariners which is a signed contract that has extensive legal ramifications and then read the forum see some people dont like him, then decide that he wants to bail from it and then either spend a s**tload in legal fees to get himself out of it or spend a s**tload and buy out his contract

Tonight's news said he was expected to sign next week, and he trained with the Mariners today.
Your right I wasn't serious that a fans forum would influence a players decision.
As has been stated it's a professional sport players have to make as much as they can in a limited time frame.
Just like the club can only show limited loyalty in a pro sport, ask Petrie or Sully.

Bear and other Knockers ........... every now and then in life you need to ................TUST................. the judgement of people.
The sparkie that your light will work, the bank teller that the money is in your account. Sometimes you need to ...........TRUST.......... in experience and know how. Tust must be earned cannot be demanded.
I ................. TRUST .............& ..................... RESPECT............... Lawrie judgements.
So if Lawrei wants young Holland .................... then knockers ............... well hand off it guys, lets sign up a local boy and welcome him in the right way, not say he needs to prove himself. Lawrie says so & as said before I trust Lawrie
